Not really the same. As long as you have a mortgage you have a lien on said property as collateral to the loan.
It’s almost a little depressing knowing after spending 30 years paying off a loan on something you just transfer obligation from your lender to yourself because technically even though you pay your property tax, at the moment you get behind doing so they will still come after you but the lien holder is ultimately responsible and can be made to pay for those taxes.
Inheritance has some curious problems with it, namely how someone who is dead can pass on property. You could keep property and abolish of inheritance and there wouldn’t be any inconsistency. This is not to say I’m in favor doing so.
I mean…who wants to have to get up early, not be able to sleep in, go to work, give your best efforts, for a minimum of 8 hours, 5 days a week, every week, of every year…until you retire?
Hellllllllllll noooooooooooooo…gimme, gimme, gimme…some of dat free stuff…amirite?
My friend…stand back…take a deep breath and meditate for a second on how a child is created? Then ask yourself…was the creation an act of love or lust? If…it was love, both provide their long term committment of responsibility to provide a home, love, an education, food, guidance and all the necessary forms of nurturing to develop this baby, into a responsible adult…and the circle of life continues. Think about that. The government provided the financial means to substitute that end of the personal responsibility it takes to raise a child. They didn’t provide the rest and all that you equate to “erosion” is the result of this government mistake. The whole program should be revisited and redesigned to motivate a better outcome for the child…PERIOD.
