Do we need another Federal Holiday? -- Dec 1, Rosa Parks Day

Bernie Sanders is a millionaire.

So what? Being a millionaire is not what it use to be. You are probably close to being a millionaire. A multi-millionaire… that is doing very well…Worth in the 8 figures…That is serious cash.

For comparison,1 billion, is 1000, millions.

I’m still not sure what show you are referring to.

Trump is the President, and he happens to be a billionaire. I didn’t realize that would be a disqualifier.

No, no more excuses to take a paid day off at taxpayer’s expense.

No, I am referring to this:

A full-time worker whose taxable income is at the median—with half the population making more and half making less—now pulls in about $50,000 a year. Yet had the fruits of the nation’s economic output been shared over the past 45 years as broadly as they were from the end of World War II until the early 1970s, that worker would instead be making $92,000 to $102,000. (The exact figures vary slightly depending on how inflation is calculated.)

As a data driven person, I see so many flaws in that article that I don’t even know where to begin. But on the surface, I see more of the same LIB wealth and income redistribution crap.

More paid time off has a positive impact on productivity, morale, reduced absenteeism. I am fortunate to work for an employer that recognizes that.

Thats not to say they they dont take their pound of flesh when you are working but you do get plenty of downtime.

But I know plenty of boomers who think paid time off is akin to socialism :grinning:

I’ve been a salaried employee pretty much my whole career. Throughout that career, I was in an on-call rotation. There were more than a few 12-to-16-hour days while on-call.

As a salaried employee, there was no overtime pay. There was such a thing as comp days, where if we worked a lot of overtime, we got to take a day off as compensation. But we got paid the big bucks so I really couldn’t complain. Also, we didn’t have to punch out for doctor appointments and such.

I’m for any new holiday. We get 17 where I currently work. At double time and a half, I’m all for it. I’m also for making Halloween, Valentine’s day, Day of the dead, all of them. Even super Bowl Monday. But that won’t help me as I never work that day. But I’m all for it.

Rosa Parks reduced to an englishman couch day.

You see this @PurpnGold?

Our people tossed in the dumpster.

If there are any more federal holidays, I suggest making August 1 “Ending Government Corruption Day” or “Second Amendment Day”.

Did you look at the data from Rand? If not, I encourage you to do so.
Rand, is far from a liberal org.

So if an employer pays enough, it is ok to treat it’s employees like crap?
There are parameters that qualify one to be on salary vs hourly. Sales positions, management positions, and artists, who are paid by what they produce.

Were you a manager, with people reporting to you? That is the main requirement to be paid by salary. If not, you got screwed…even if they paid you well.

Yup, all those benefits you enjoy were negotiated by primarily unions, and Democrats.
And you now vote for Republicans…if they had their way they would break up your union in heart beat.

Rand is a government cut out.

i’ll be good with “rosa parks day“ if the idiot left stops with their “reparations” buy-black-votes talk

That’s one of the flaws I spoke of. They talked about a Rand study, but I wasn’t able to find any links to the actual study so that I could review it.

From Google AI:

In 2023, about 44.3% of the US workforce was salaried, while about 55.7% were paid hourly.

In my chosen field, we are all salaried employees. Overtime comes with the job. Everyone in my chosen field fully understands that. We can either accept it or find a different career.

Today, I’m a multi-millionaire with a comfortable 6-figure retirement income. I’d say my company treated me pretty well.
