Do progressives believe in civil liberties?

How are we to balance the conflict between community and individual?
If the community takes precedence then is that regressive to the human condition?

On progressive issues? Absolutely they believe in civil liberties.

Ask them about the civil rights violation (right to life) that abortion violates, though.

Yes…only to advance their perverted goals…

What definition of “civil liberties” are you using?

so, you believe they believe in civil liberties to take away civil liberties?

individual rights protected by law from unjust governmental or other interference.

Then no, they don’t.

how about this?

the state of being subject only to laws established for the good of the community, especially with regard to freedom of action and speech.

If the “interference” is law, and has gone through the courts…How is it unjust?

Then yes, as long as it is their community.

depends on whose we’re talking about.

 That’s so cute.

Glad you liked it…had you in mind.

You should take a US history class.

They only believe in liberties that advances their collective goals…not individually.

No.

Liberals are the Personification of Satan Himself.

it seems the left redefines the meaning of civil liberties. So the Question is hard to answer.

Libs. Not liberals.

I don’t know about all the devil stuff, I do know white, male libs will be the downfall of the US.

Maybe we should shoot them.

how about this definition

Civil liberties are guarantees and freedoms that liberal governments commit not to abridge, either by legislation or judicial interpretation, without due process. Though the scope of the term differs between countries, civil liberties may include the freedom of conscience, freedom of press, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, the right to security and liberty, freedom of speech, the right to privacy, the right to equal treatment under the law and due process, the right to a fair trial, and the right to life. Other civil liberties include the right to own property, the right to defend oneself, and the right to bodily integrity. Within the distinctions between civil liberties and other types of liberty, distinctions exist between positive liberty/positive rights and negative liberty/negative rights.
