Disney indefinitely suspends Kimmel's show

A reprimand is an official rebuke for a fault. Exactly what you’re describing. And don’t forget the forced apology.

There you go again … adding another word to your repertoire … “rebuke.” A memo clarifying the rules does not mean a rebuke.

Carr did not demand an apology either.

How does one force an apology? … Blowtorches? Thumb screws? Waterboarding?

The letter of reprimand/rebuke/strongly worded memo was your idea, along with the forced apology. I asked you to explain what “take action” could possibly mean, and that admittedly mild punishment is what you came up with. Did you forget?

opinions are like that sometimes

try not to be triggered

I haven’t forgotten a thing. A memo reminding an on-air personality about the rules is not inherently a negative action. But it is indeed an action.

For someone who criticized me for being argumentative, you sure do like to argue.

My favorite was his comeback monologue where he claims he was misunderstood. He wasn’t making fun of it….. even though there’s a laughtrack in the video, and he didn’t say the guy belonged to either party…. Which he did.

So he lied and was classless in the first video, and lied about lying and being classless in his comeback.

He should go back to doing black face and staring at boobs.

Boycotts by true Americans who believe in the 1st Amendment…good.

Opinion followed by threat from a government official is official government statement not just some opinion

Not saying abc acted on it by the way

there was no threat

Frankly, when you see stuff like this, I mean, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

When is “easy way or hard way” not a threat.

Again i don’t actually believe abc acted on the threat but come on now

The only threat there appears to be aimed at FCC employees … " there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

it!s their job to hold content accountable. not make idle threats

Ok so at least we got passed it not being a threat. Phew

You agreed that the FCC chair’s comments were inappropriate. What was inappropriate about them?

His words comments were not inappropriate. That he stated them publicly was.

Why are you still trying to find an angle on this?

Bernie can’t see the irony.

keep dreaming

I mean i get it. It’s easier just to ignore what’s being said and pretend that easy way or the hard way isn’t cliche language for a threat. I guess

what’s easier is jumping into the narrative river and bleating the things you hear all over media instead of taking a critical view of what really might be. i mean, i get it because that’s what happens on just about everything so many think is real.

when did the fcc doing their job become “political pressure” and “threats”?

amazing
