The story, however, has been repeatedly questioned. In April, The Washington Post reported that, according to government records, Sheehy had told a National Park Service ranger in October 2015 that he accidentally shot himself in the right arm with his Colt .45 while on a family trip to Glacier National Park. The shooting resulted in a citation for illegally discharging his weapon in a national park.
Wouldnt there be record of hi being treated for a gun shot wound while in the service? Shouldn’t this be easy to clear up?
“Anyone trying to take away from the fact that Tim Sheehy signed up for war as a young man and spent most of his 20s in some of the most dangerous places in the world is either a partisan hack, a journalist with an agenda, or outright a disgusting person,” Sheehy spokesperson Katie Martin told the outlet.
Interesting that they left out the part about being shot.
He claims he didn’t report his wound because he wasn’t sure if it was friendly or enemy fire and doesn’t want to get anyone in trouble, so I don’t think he could have a purple heart, could he?
But his wound would have been treated eventually, woudln’t it? and there would be record of that, no?
It baffles me why candidates do this. Even an idiot would know that claims of military injuries or even military service need to be bulletproof (pun intended) because opponents will be sure to vet them. Stolen valor is a third rail that nobody should be willing to toy with.
Sheehy must (MUST) now address this head-on, or his dancing will only be taken as an admission that he fabricated this.
The SIGACT Report (which can be FOIA’ed) will detail everything up to, during, and after the TIC (time in contact).
If he’s lying, it’s pathetically easy to find out if he’s a pathetic liar or not.
But hey, it’s not like the losers whining about it will suddenly hold Taliban Timmy accountable for being a pathetic lying POGUE (person of greater use elsewhere).
That’s crap. They don’t do an investigation based on whether a purple heart was awarded. The award would have nothing to do with it. He didn’t want a purple heart but he’s boasting about his wound now? He’s a loser.
“… adding that he was not sure if the bullet injury he said was from 2012 was the result of friendly fire or from enemy ammunition and, therefore, never reported the incident to his superiors“.
and just to be certain, this park ranger gave him a ticket for discharging a fire arm that he says fell while he was loading the truck. There is no report of injury or bleeding, yet the bullet is in his arm.
In October 2015, Sheehy showed up at an emergency room near Glacier National Park, and told the doctors that he had accidentally shot himself while in the park - prompting the doctors to call the park ranger to take his statement. The park ranger took his statement, gave him a ticket for negligent discharge, and went on his way.
Now he’s saying he was in the hospital for an entirely different accident (not involving a gun) that occurred in the park, and lied about shooting himself - to cover up the bullet in his arm from a war injury that had to have occurred more than 3 years before.
I bet the hospital has records that can clear this all up - the doctors, I’m sure, can tell the difference between a fresh gunshot wound and a three year-old one.
