except for alcohol, right?
lulubee:
Yes, it is. But, unlike in many other states, it’s not a requirement.
We also don’t need a photo ID in NYS to buy groceries
Doesn’t affect me. I don’t care
Well I care. I don’t want other states want to make it harder for people to vote.
We should be making it easier for people to vote.

Still don’t care.

I was just clarifying what one needs to register to vote in NYS.
And a photo ID is one of the things that qualifies.

I don’t buy beer and that’s the only alcohol sold in grocery stores in NY.
I buy all alcohol at a liquor store and I don’t ever have to show ID. Likely because I’m 61.
And, Trump didn’t say “alcohol” he said ‘groceries”.
I bought groceries just yesterday. I did not need to show any ID to purchase them.

We should be making it easier for people to vote.
No. That is wrong.
We should be making it easier for American citizens to vote in their local voting places.
We should be making our impossible for people who are not US citizens to vote in our elections.

There is zero evidence that non US citizens vote. Heck, a large proportion of US citizens don’t vote either.
There is zero evidence that non US citizens vote.
Then it should be an easy task.

College man are you?

What should be an easy task? Registering to vote/voting at polls? I agree. So why do so many states make it difficult for people to register and/or vote?

College man are you?
First, I’m a woman.
Second, not only do I have a college degree, I have a Masters in Public Policy.
What should be an easy task?
Making sure non US citizens can’t vote. All someone needs is any electric bill with their name and address on it. Non citizens need electricity too.

Figgers. …
Making sure non US citizens can’t vote. All someone needs is any electric bill with their name and address on it. Non citizens need electricity too
And yet non citizens do not vote.

you can’t prove that.
you can’t prove that.
Save your powder Mx. -shinigami. Might as well be arguing with a waterlogged cypress stump.
I’d rather make 3% less per transaction if I knew allowing credit cards would increase my sales volume.
Which is, BTW, why businesses do it.
It’s a marginal cost, so as long as the fixed costs stay reasonably under control, you can make up the 3% with the extra volume.
That 3% is even less since there is a labor cost to process those paper checks…

I know. But sometimes I enjoy tilting at windmills.

from this quote, in NYS the required identification when registering to vote is:
We’ll try to check your identity before Election Day, through the DMV number (driver’s license number or non-driver ID number), or the last four digits of your social security number, which you’ll fill in below.”
“If you do not have a DMV or social security number, you may use a valid photo ID, a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or some other government document that shows your name and address. You may include a copy of one of those types of ID with this form— be sure to tape the sides of the form closed.”
