I dunno what’s so confusing about this. NYC can’t function without mass transit. Period. That is how the city was built. Less than fifty percent of people own a car and it’s an even smaller number who actually use that car in the city.
Am currently one state away and have never had a desire to go.

How many of those “essential”, since now state officials decide what’s essential, jobs are available for them go out and get right now? IMO “It’s not all about you” is one of those lines used to stifle any dialogue, and, even the expression in Andrew Cuomo’s eyes is cold and soul less.
This is the same individual who considers pro life individuals and groups not welcome in New York, hmm, guess the First Amendment doesn’t exist there
It’s scary a majority of New Yorkers picked him to represent them
Essential jobs right now take a lot of effort and hard work…and a lot of them are pretty dirty jobs. I understand why those protesting aren’t rushing to take them.
Some of what’s considered essential requires very specific licensure and training, like nursing and police work.
Driving an 18 wheeler takes a Commercial Drivers License, and some of these essential employers, for those jobs that may not have such requirements, have frozen hiring.
Is someone whose “nonessential” small business has been forced to close up shop supposed to transition to a job whose requirements take time to meet, like nursing and police work? Here’s a history of nursing education
