Coronavirus Thread Political

They do and that system went to work before they even had the first genetic samples out of China.

What they don’t have is unlimited production capability.

Nobody knew in either Dec or January or even early in Feb just how serious this outbreak was going to be.

Remember when I first posted about it people called me an alarmist and claimed I wasn’t really concerned but was just trying to stir things up.

But for all the whining bitching and derision of how the administration has handled things so far where does the US rate compared to other first world countries for total number of cases and deaths?

Those are the only numbers that actually matter.

Thoughtful post Conan. +1

Lets see your proof that a company Trump owns a major share in is producing the test kits?

Both would be fabrications on your part.

Most of the criticisms of this administration in the media are solely for political purposes and ratings and this administration has done everything possible to minimize risk to the US from it.

I could be critical because I don’t think they initiated travel bans and quarantines as early as I liked but when I first started suggesting them people here claimed I was just crazy, paranoid, and in a panic.

Where does the US sit today in comparison to the nations of Western Europe for total cases and deaths?

The mortality rate is what got everyone stirred up in the first place.

Say what?

First you say the system worked, then you say they dont have unlimited production capabilities. In this very same thread you praised private enterprise for the quick ramp up.

If the system “worked” the government would have had private enterprise ramping up test production way earlier than they did. Why didnt they? Is it because they arent as wise as you?

He owns interest in it.

And as I said, i am not being conspiratorial about it but the fact that he never divorced himself from his business shows that there can be an appearance of impropriety where none may actually exist.

Even the appearance of impropriety is something we should not want when it comes to the President potentially profiting from his office.

The system did work. People are not dying in the streets because they can’t get tested and the treatment is the same with or without a confirmatory test.

Panicking over a lack of testing is just BS.

At worst you get a few people quarantined unnecessarily while awaiting testing.

People dying in the streets is the measure of how successful a governments response is to a situation like this now?

Did anyone die of Ebola in the streets when Obama was president?

They probably will. Would you prefer the hair on fire panic of some here?

We never had an Ebola outbreak in the US under Obama.

How many infected in the US and how many dead due to Covid19?

Even if you contract it, what are your odds of dying unless you are over 80 years old and already in poor health?

320 cases 15 death.
numbers keep going up but its just like the common flu.

The only panic I’ve seen here is people worried its effect could damage Trumps reelection due to its potential effects on the economy. There were several threads on this as I’m sure you were aware.

I don’t see anyone panicking here.
I see people talking about the government response.

Well people in AUS are fighting over toilet paper.
but they are weird.

You were around the predecessor to this board when Ebola happen. You saw what was posted. I dont even need to say anything more than that.

Right, so is it really worth all the ranting, raving, histrionics, panic and outright lies?

How does that compare to say Germany, Japan, South Korea, France and Italy?

BS. Yes, I am aware, they’re all linked in the OP for your perusal. There has been plenty of hair on fire panic over what this virus will do.

Great, then we won’t have to listen to any more of it!

Then you need to get your glasses fixed.
