CinC, maybe, sort of

They would cease to exist as a nation.

There would also be a lot of dead South Koreans and Japanese.

As I said.

No backsies.

There is no other way to categorize it other then as a military decision and those are firmly in the executives enumerated powers.

You just listed two more reasons we wouldn’t retaliate with a nuke.

No they wouldn’t. Japan didn’t and we can nuke just a little if we want to.

Ummm what?

Actually there is…it’s the President de facto declaring war via attacking another country.

How the President would really fight this is via the auspices of the War Powers Resolution.

There would be a lot of dead South Koreans and Japanese as part of the strike on the US.

It’s the closest US targets.

They would get hit also.

We dropped two on Japan, it still existed as a nation. Nukes come in sizes.

We only had two.

We dropped both of them.

Nonsense. The 2nd ID is not a problem for NK.

Ok, and Japan still existed. MAD is a myth.

If they didn’t surrender shortly after the bombing would have continued.

MAD is not a myth.

It has been gamed out for decades as the only way a nuclear doesn’t start in the first place.

We nuked Japan, they still exist.

We already went through that.

I know that this is some sort of “gotcha” but to compare the world nuclear Arsenal at the end of WW2 to 2021 is super stupid.

How, we only had two. But they did surrender. And kept existing.

Of course it is

“Gamed” - it’s a myth.

Okay.

I have become convinced.

The leading theory of nuclear conflicts is a myth.

There is no more need to argue.

It’s not a “gotcha”, you’re just wrong.

The nuclear arsenals are not comparable at all. Back then we had two. Now we have many, and they’re adjustable.

The same people that told you it was true, had hiding under your school desk as your way to survive a nuclear attack, just saying.

Nothing to argue about. Just because you have 1,000 doesn’t mean you have to use 1,000. And even if you did, destruction of an entire country would not be assured.

He’s not that old.
