The people dying from this disease are almost without exception those who were already near the end or in such poor shape already that the next serious cold, flu, or bacterial respiratory infection was going to kill them anyhow. That’s just nature at work. It shouldn’t be exploited as a political issue particularly by those who were dead wrong about the disease and how we should respond to it from the start.

Which only shows how much deadlier the flu is, particularly for the young and healthy. We manage however to go forward each flu season without blowing up the damned economy in panic.

Well that’s just complete nonsense. The groups most at risk are retirees and those with permanent disabilities who have a protected income already. Those who are still working can certainly be taken care of for a tiny fraction of what the shut down is costing us.
