Children in Florida school encouraged to write graffiti on bathroom walls

God that one was good.

I wish the old board was still up. Before they took it down I enjoyed just going through old threads.

Polk County School District is proud of their budding artists, as seen on the Polk County Public Schools Official Facebook Page.

It started on August 17. Right between my an my wife’s birthday…so every year I would resurrect it on the anniversary.

Polk County Public Schools are proud of the media attention their budding artists and inspirational bathroom art is generating, according to the Polk County Public Schools Official Facebook Page.

Under Florida law this act is ok. You are making much ado about nothing.

I’m trying to understand why this thread exists. Cmon OP, tell us what you’re really on about.

It appears from the Facebook commentary no one in Polk County who objects has come forward. One grandmother is proud to have a grandchild in that school. Other schools in county apparently have a similar art project going on.

One individual wants the project at her local school. If anything, from a conservative POV, this project should be about schools & what goes on in them being a matter of local control—which they appear to be.

You forgot to post the law. Can you post the information from Lakeland’s Board of Education granting such permission to the local school, and a compilation of the codes, rules and regulations applicable to the project?

There is no surer way to weaken, subdue, demoralize and then conquer a prosperous and freedom loving people than by allowing and encouraging the poverty stricken, poorly educated, low-skilled, criminal and diseased populations of other countries to invade that country, and make the country’s existing citizens tax-slaves to support the economic needs of such invaders.

Are you really trying to figure this out? When I went to grade school we spent that valuable time on the three rs, in addition to learning about the founding of our country and its exceptionalism. Today, our socialist government schools’ priority is placed on teaching children to feel good regardless of shortcomings and academic deficiencies, and instead of learning how to think, our children are being told what to think, e.g., School Children being taught to sing mmm mmm mm Barack Hussein Obama:

As to our Constitution being a "living document", that life is found only in Article V, a protection demanding the people’s participation and consent when change is thought to be necessary.

You are worse than Arthur Fonzerelli in admitting you were wrong.

Im glad we agree on this. Its like what many cities have done to help solve tge grafiti problem, give them a wall where people can do it on.

No official statement, just the school board bragging on the students on the board’s Facebook page. Polk County Public Schools

There is no Lakeland ordinance that specifically deals with graffiti. The Florida Statue can be found at Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine and by definition, requires malicious intent. Malicious intent is defined as without just cause or reason, to commit a wrongful act that will result in harm to another.

So decorating a bathroom with motivational and uplifting messages with the blessing of the school and school board means the girls have not violated state statutes or local ordinances.

Is there anyone else in the entire country who is upset about this besides you?

Yes. I am very upset by it too. Those inspirations messages were only written in English. I think it’s a travesty that they school believes only English speaking girls should be exposed to positive messages.

Yes, how dare they not include Braille either?

Good grief - I can’t believe this thread is still going 2 days later. Sometimes, people find the weirdest things to get outraged about. Here’s an idea - if you don’t like the messages that were put on the restrooms, WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE TEACHERS AND PRINCIPAL, don’t look at it. How hard can that possibly be??

No its not.

Or maybe he could write an angry letter to the principal or complain at their next school boarding meeting.

Or Latin since there is a significant group of students who self identify as Latina.
