Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys want “European Army”

They lived both world wars, their towns where bombed daily, they starved eating grass and flowers. what was the worst thing we had to give up? chocolate.

Nazi rule was brutal when we would liberate a town or city they would openly cry in the streets thanking us, we would pass out bread and they would run home like they had just won the ■■■■■■■ lotto.

See you are confused this is not about diplomacy but trying to support Trump at all costs. If a Trump supporter has spoken kindly of the Holy one enough times they will be allowed into the great Trump tower in the sky and get 72 virgin porn stars at their beck and call.

You know what that makes you, don’t you?

Canadians and Americans were very fortunate during the war. Outside of the families who lost loved ones In the armed forces the civilian populations of both countries were spared what occupied Western Europe and Britain had to go through.

Eastern European countries had it worse than anyone, though. First you had dealt with rampaging NAZIs exterminating your Jewish neighbors and placing you in work camps for three to four years. Then during the Soviet push to Berlin in late 44 and 45 you had to deal with a vengeful Red Army that saw almost everyone west of Ukraine as collaborators and went on a rape and looting frenzy.

Perhaps you missed the part about defending Europe from the US. Given the contribution that the US has made the defense (and rescue) of Europe, that IS an insult.

You don’t think America has military plans to defend themselves from every country in the world?

We are a very normal country that isn’t constantly paranoid.

After WWI Pentagon planned a full scale invasion of the British Empire, just for the hell of it.

Nearly 3/4 of NATO is funded by the US. And of the 29 countries in NATO, other than the US, only Greece, Estonia, Great Britain, and Latvia are meeting or exceeding their financial obligation. They may be spending their own money, but not nearly enough of it.

LOL. Why not? Red, white and blue baby.

We spend a lot of money because we like to have a global hegemony.

It’s not all NATO… which is a defense agreement that has benefited us greatly also.

Well, in fairness, without France there would not be a United States.

And without both the ideals of republicanism, liberty, fraternity, and due process would not be as common as they are today.

The American revolution and French Revolution, when taken together, changed the entire western world and by extension the global political sphere.

how is it insulting for the President of France to suggest his country should be ready to defend itself from any threat?

“Fifty four, forty or fight!”

their revolution kind failed though thank to a short little dude with a funny hat.

I would compare the French revolution with the English civil war, they don’t know how to govern without a king which is why both of them returned to the monarchy system even though fought and kill their former king.

I disagree.

The first republic did collapse but the ideals that were spawned were actually spread throughout Europe by Napoleon on his conquests

Due process under the law didn’t exist in most of the German states before the French Armies rolled in. The revolution was spread by force. Not the best way to go about it but the results spoke for themselves in the aftermath.

Before the Napoleonic Wars absolute monarchs were the normal state of things in Central Europe. After the wars the worst excesses of absolutism had been destroyed because the people there would no longer tolerate it. The monarchs who came after were forced into constitutional monarchies. People were inspired by the French Revolution. The revolutions of 1848 were heavily inspired by 1789.

What’s crazy is that Napoleon was both the best and worst thing to ever happen to Europe up till the 19th century.

This is the centennial remberance of the armistice ending WWI, not WWII.
