CEC is really pushing that cancel culture is a liberal/stalinist plot to destroy america while totally ignoring how often they try to cancel stuff. Is canceling ok as long as the "right things" are cancelled?

“Be an American worth dying for.” ~ Combat Veteran

We can sponsor whomever we want to sponsor. We have no right to make demands on others to follow.

Leftists want to destroy people who think differently and everyone that speaks favorably of them. There is a difference.

Nope.

The Chicks as they are now calling themselves lead singer, Natalie Maines…spoke out against President Bush’s foreign policy (the pending invasion of Iraq) in a 2003 concert on foreign soil.

This is from the History.com

“In response to the critical comments made about him by singer Natalie Maines in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, President George W. Bushoffered this response: “The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say.” Of the backlash the Chicks (then known as the Dixie Chicks) were then facing within the world of country music, President Bush added: “They shouldn’t have their feelings hurt just because some people don’t want to buy their records when they speak out.”

They pissed people off and several of their fans chose to quit buying their music. Big difference from that to “our feelings have been triggered so we re going to remove the option of you reading this book or looking at this statue without even giving you the freedom to make your own choice.”

I agree…I ll actually decide what I do and don’t want to support with my checkbook and my decision to attend or not attend, watch or not watch. If an organization pissed me off (the NBA with the stupid BLM logo all over the floor), they lost me as a viewer for a long time. I actually watched a game on tv last night, enjoyed it. The NBA survived without me.

We live in a free country…that means celebrating the glory of America it also means putting up with stupid people doing stupid things. When they start canceling children’s books written by a very liberal author because some of his work doesn’t fit some made up standard decades after writing…when an African American woman who was herself a model of success at a time when it wasn’t easy for her to succeed can be eliminated as a corporate logo just because her appearance triggered someone…that to me is worth at least speaking my disagreement.

When they start tearing down monuments and statues to people who may have lived the different norms of the time but were still significant contributors to our country those idiots need to be arrested and convicted.

Exactly…I said before the last election and I stand by it…

The liberal left as it exists today is a threat to our freedom, particularly our freedom of speech. They want us all thinking one way…their way.

The Dixie chicks weren’t deplatformed and cut off from banking services.

And that is your choice.

My choice would be to go and view a statue…whether it be of a confederate general or Abe Lincoln…and to learn from it. Why did the people of that community in the south choose to honor that person even though he fought for the Confederacy…

Lunatics tried to destroy both the confederate and Honest Abe last summer. I wish those people would have all been rounded up and jailed.

Cool.

George Floyd had a fairly extensive criminal record…in and out of jail 4 times in 8 years. Broke into a woman’s house and pointed a gun at her.

If her family showed up at one of those big George Floyd murals and sandblasted it you’re cool with that right?

Natalie Maines used a concert stage in London to open her big mouth, vilify Prez GW Bush over the Iraq invasion stating: “we’re ashamed he’s from Texas”. Their popularity tanked and they were somewhat blacklisted. Today they would be held as icons, they no doubt believe J’Biden is the second coming! Dropping the “Dixie”? Anticlimactic and did nothing for their popularity other than gaining the attention of perhaps the mindless prog droids that nod in agreement and scurry on to the destruction of the next statue erected in memory of a soldier who perhaps fought and died 155 years ago.

How does anyone ban Holden Caufield. That kid rocked…he was damn near every kid I knew in high-school and college. He was me.

Elvis Presley would be cancelled by the left today for cultural appropriation.

He was canceled by the right 60 years ago from the waste down because he wiggled and shook his booty.

I know right? They were worried it would lead to things like rampant drugs use, out of birth wedlock, promiscuity and a general decline in public morality. Look how wrong they were.

I don’t know that it was the first example but I can say here today that I didn’t approve…just like I didn’t approve of invading Iraq which is what the Dixie Chicks and I stood up against. The military complex was the force behind that and President Eisenhower warned about them during his Administration. Look how quickly after Biden came into office, a drone strike occurred on foreign soil. The military complex is a very powerful force that IMO has more influence than the current “cancel culture”.

Lol look at you guys go.
