There have only been 2 expulsions since the Civil War, one in 1980 and one in 2002.
The reason is that members likely to be expelled, such as Corrine Brown, etc., have inevitably resigned prior to formal proceedings commencing.
Only Michael Myers and James Traficant were foolish enough to try to stay in Congress and both were expelled almost unanimously, in Traficantâs case, 1 member voted no.
