Boston University creates more lethal COVID

That’s the first time the Kung Flu became “more dangerous” to anyone, and it had to be done in a lab.

That makes sense. None the less a little frightening. Mutated Covid and threatened nuclear war in Europe have to be moving that doomsday clock.

Okay…How many people did the last coronavirus created in a lab actually kill? I see no reason to create something significantly more deadly. One little mistake in handling this and we’ve got a worldwide disaster on our hands.

When did gain of function research suddenly become okay again?

We don’t have any evidence to prove that the virus was created in a lab or a product of nature.
And yes you are correct that a small mistake could be deadly. But Scientists have been handling nasty bugs and other hazardous items for decades.

Exactly. Viruses get less lethal over time for their own survival.

Never stopped being en vogue. Ask Dr. Fauci. But don’t let Rand Paul do it.

Sure we don’t.

That’s the narrative isn’t it?

Headline - THE LAB-LEAK THEORY IS LOOKING STRONGER BY THE DAY. HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW. Deconstructed: The Lab-Leak Theory Is Looking Stronger

From the NY Post. “The origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 remains unclear, but recent revelations reinforce the likelihood that the true source was a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology… A letter from Lawrence Tabak, the National Institutes of Health’s principal deputy director, to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) confirms that the NIH funded research at the WIV during 2018-2019 that manipulated a bat coronavirus called WIV1. Researchers at the institute grafted spike proteins from other coronaviruses onto WIV1 to see if the modified virus was capable of binding in a mouse that possessed the ACE2 receptors found in humans — the same receptor to which SARS-CoV-2 binds. The modified virus reproduced more rapidly and made infected humanized mice sicker than the unmodified virus.”. Letter confirms Wuhan lab leak was funded by US taxpayers

Headline- “Covid origin: Why the Wuhan lab-leak theory is being taken seriously”… “Nearly a year and a half since Covid-19 was detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the question of how the virus first emerged remains a mystery.
But in recent weeks the controversial claim that the pandemic might have leaked from a Chinese laboratory - once dismissed by many as a fringe conspiracy theory - has been gaining traction.” Covid origin: Why the Wuhan lab-leak theory is so disputed

Maybe in a few weeks we’ll get some folks in Congress who are interested in looking into all of this.

It is sort of a moot point. Without the corporation of China we will never know the true story of what happened. And I don’t expect that China will do anything to help with those efforts.

Have they ever once did this as in create a new virus and then made a successful vaccine to defeat it? From what I have read (I could be wrong) all this gain of function research has done nothing but make more lethal viruses not vaccines to fight them.

I haven’t read a story where it says by doing previous gain of function research we were able to create a vaccine.

You are possibly right.

Or maybe Dr Fauci and Dr Collins should be asked a few more questions…

“ U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. penned an op-ed for the Washington Examiner about the nearly ten billion dollars in funding controlled by Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins and how those dollars appear to have influenced scientists worldwide on their opinion of COVID origins. In the op-ed Senator Marshall said in part,

“…failing to carry the water of Dr. Collins and Dr. Fauci certainly could have resulted in new grants being reduced or even pulled back. Thus the issue of a conflict of interest surely remains… When billions of taxpayer dollars remain in the brain trust of a few powerful bureaucrats for decades, conflicts of interest — both conscious and subconscious — can arise and cloud the vision, decisions, and scientific assessments of nearly anyone. Human nature dictates as much. Scientists have now gone on the record recounting concerns about backlash if they did not toe the line.”. Sen. Marshall Op-ed: Email trail shows how Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins distorted public views on COVID - Senator Roger Marshall

From the NY Post… “On April 16, 2020, then-National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins sent Fauci a link to a report by Fox News host Bret Baier which stated that “multiple sources” who had been briefed on the origins of COVID-19 believed it emerged from the Wuhan lab…” Wondering if there is something NIH can do to help put down this very destructive conspiracy, with what seems to be growing momentum,” wrote Collins. “I hoped the Nature Medicine article on the genomic sequence of SARS-CoV-2 would settle this. But probably didn’t get much visibility. Anything more we can do? Ask the National Academy [of Sciences] to weigh in?”… “ Two months earlier, on Feb. 1, 2020, Comer and Jordan claim, Fauci and Collins took part in a conference call with at least 11 other scientists in which they were warned that COVID-19 may have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but “it is unclear if either Dr. Fauci or Dr. Collins ever passed these warnings along to other government officials or if they simply ignored them.”. Fauci called Wuhan lab leak theory 'shiny object' in April 2020 email

To say there’s no evidence Covid leaked from a lab is simply not accurate.

I can’t think of an alternative of why you would create this and announce it if not to learn how to block an outbreak. We have to figure if we can do it, China Or Russia can do it. If Russia could do it and release it but spare their own people?
It’s a question of whether it’s more risky to do it or not do it. The creation of a “last man on earth” scenario if things go wrong is bothersome.

Might want to look up how many times their pets escaped.

We can deny it, I suppose

It could also kill us all if it gets out…just sayin’…

You are correct and with all the dumb progressives lurking around Boston, imagine what someone might do if Trump or Desantis gets elected. Are maybe some crazed psycho having access to the lab…

Gain of function research has been going on for a long time. Made in China improved by government funding. Where is Fauci and did he give money to Boston U?

gain of function research us banned

Is it? On American soil.

I don’t sleep so I did some googling…I found a proposal from last year for something called the “ Foreign Gain-of-Function Research Prevention Act of 2021…”. I believe it passed.

“ This bill prohibits the use of federal funds to conduct or support gain-of-function research involving potential pandemic pathogens by China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, or other foreign adversaries. Gain-of-function research is any research that is anticipated to confer an attribute on a pathogen to enhance its pathogenicity or transmissibility in mammals.

If the Department of State finds that an entity has used funds for prohibited research, the entity may not receive any federal funding for a period of five years.”

But that doesn’t say anything about the USA…

There are all kinds of stories about about a 2014 ban lifted in 2017…” In 2014, the U.S. government placed a moratorium on new gain-of-function experiments for influenza, MERS, and SARS. That moratorium defines “gain-of-function” in very broad terms covering any “research that improves the ability of a pathogen to cause disease.” The moratorium expired in 2017 and was replaced by an oversight board, the Potential Pandemic Pathogens Control and Oversight Framework (P3CO) that reviews federally funded gain-of-function research. EcoHealth Alliance defines gain-of-function more specifically as enhancing viruses that infect humans, not enhancing viruses that infect animals.” U.S. Moratorium(ish) on Gain-of-Function Research | Mind Matters

Near as I can tell this is actually legal…

Yes? No?

This is from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health…

“ January 8, 2018 – Last month, the U.S. government lifted a three-year moratorium on funding risky research to genetically alter deadly viruses in ways that could make them even more lethal. Epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch of Harvard Chan School thinks the move could create an accidental pandemic.

Why is there such a fierce debate about the end of the moratorium?

Those who support such research think that it is necessary to develop strategies to fight rapidly evolving pathogens that pose a threat to public health, such as the flu virus, the viruses causing Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), or Ebola. For instance, some of this so-called “gain-of-function” research—which aims to make germs more contagious, more deadly, or both—has aimed to create viruses that can easily pass between ferrets, so that researchers can understand how those changes occur and potentially how viruses go from infecting animals in the wild to transmitting between humans.

But others, like myself, worry that human error could lead to the accidental release of a virus that has been enhanced in the lab so that it is more deadly or more contagious than it already is. There have already been accidents involving pathogens. For example, in 2014, dozens of workers at a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lab were accidentally exposed to anthrax that was improperly handled. Another accident like that—if it involved a virus that was both newly created and highly contagious—has the potential to jeopardize millions of people.”

This piece goes on to mention something about “establish scientific review panels to ensure that the benefits of such research justify the risks.”…

Will that work…if you (like me) believe Covid came from a lab leak the answer to that question is obviously a no. Here’s what the author said. “ My overall take is that this is a small step forward. The government has indeed proposed a review for the most concerning kinds of research. However, I also believe that gain-of-function experiments to date have given us only modest scientific knowledge and have done almost nothing to improve our preparedness for pandemics, yet they have risked creating an accidental pandemic.”

So again I ask…why the hell are we creating a more potent version of covid on American soil?

What did our friends in Boston do with their science project after they made it? Is it going to live in a vault somewhere or will they destroy it?

More than 6.5 million people died around the world. Those of us who survived are certainly now working thru the aftermath…

So again I ask…why?
