Big News in the WOT but virtual silence in the media

The reasons for going were not valid. Iraq was MLK o threat to the United States. It had not attacked the United States. It was not able to attack the United States. That Saddam was or wasn’t “on the march” in the ME is irrelevant. We were not the ME. The Hitler argument is laughable at best. Saddam was not Hitler. There is NO, NONE, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH evidence Iraq would ever have been a real threat to the United States.

We were wrong then and are still wrong to be waging war in Iraq.

It is long past time for us as a Nation to acknowledge that and end it.

No, but it’s long past time people like yourself realize that our interests do not end at out shores and land borders.

It is long past time that war mongers like you admit we royally screwed the pooch with the Iraq war.

You don’t seem to read very well Lou, I’ve said repeatedly and in some detail just how badly we botched it in Iraq.

So you admit we never should have attacked and occupied Iraq.

Then why all the argument it was the right thing to do?

No. We screwed up how we handled it beyond the defeat of Saddam’s forces but not in going in the first place.

We had to act on what was known at the time, not what we’d later discover.

We did not have to act on what we thought we knew at the time. That wasn’t true then, it certainly hasn’t become true since.

And fortunately people like yourself will never be in a position to make those decisions.

True. That is why needless, stupid, insane war, with massive killing, and costly destruction will be never ending.

Yeah. Woo Hoo!

Gotta give you credit Lou, you’re as predictable as a broken record.

Broken records aren’t predictable at all.

That’s a good point. That idiom isn’t so useful anymore. Someone who has never played a vinyl record has no idea what it means.

Ayup. With a broken record the needle jumps and slips and no one can predict what grove it will drop into.

An unbroken record is predictable as it comes. Wherever you drop the needle you know from that point it will go to the center and the end.

And this is the real problem. It seems that even good news must be either ignored, trivialized or opposed, simply because Trump is involved.

For example, radio talk show host Steve Deace, who is no Trump fan, was praising Trump’s decision for withdrawing the Iraq deal. Deace had opposed it all along (along with even some Democrats who flipped on it and showed their hypocrisy) and was being consistent.

However some people were saying Deace is now on the “Trump train”. So in other words, even if Trump does something we agree with, we are suddenly supposed to oppose it.

This is true with some of the votes Ds have taken in regards to judicial and other appointments. In most cases, they automatically oppose his choices, no matter how qualified some of them are. To be sure, some of his picks have been very controversial, but many are not.

I’ve said before Trump could find the cure for cancer, and if we didn’t suddenly like cancer we’d be on the “Trump train” too.

My biggest opposition to Trump has always been his demeanor. That will never change. But I do believe in giving credit where credit is due, and this story in the OP is HUGE news, and very, very good as well.

It’s sad. I doubt you can find anyone more opposed to Trump’s election or that thinks less of him as a man but at least I’ve managed to be honest in my criticisms and fair enough to say so when I agree with what he’s doing as POTUS.

Honest criticism seems to be dead and I’m just a zombie.

When he does something I agree with I’ll say so, when he blows it I’ll say so.

There is no question at all the media ignores any good things that are happening now, all because of Trump and Republicans.

And they amplify everything else. Stormi’s lawyer has been on CNN over 70 times in the past couple of months. Is there no one else CNN can interview?

And speaking of Stormi’s lawyer, here’s a tweet featuring him out partying with people who work at CNN, including Don Lemon. Then the left says there is no media bias.

Avenatti with CNNers @DonLemon, political analyst @errollouis, and political commentator @MargaretHoover. Great look, guys! Definitely not showing everyday viewers you’re cozy with people you cover and praise on-air. Ethics of Journalism 101!!!

Thrilled to have met @MichaelAvenatti at the Sag Harbor soirée of my second favorite on air journalist @donlemon @errollouis @MargaretHoover

How does anyone do a fair interview with someone, and ask tough questions, when you are out partying with him as well?

Oh that’s just barely scratching the surface. How much milieage is all of his personal/business corruption and violations of law getting on the big three, or MSNBC?

He’s several hundred thousand in the hole for not paying his taxes including withholding from his employees from their paychecks and not paying the IRS?

Is it getting more than a minimal mention at all or is it even being mentioned?

How much airtime on the major’s other than Fox did CNN hiring James Clapper who lied repeatedly under oath and who was leaking classified information to them while still working for the Obama administration?

How about CNN hiring the reporter who falsely accused Trump of making racist statements, April Ryan?

Wow, first I’ve heard of that. Doesn’t surprise me though.

Yes, we could go on all day about how bad the media is. Another example was Andrea Mitchell of NBC saying Trump called immigrants "animals’ when Trump was clearly referring to MS 13 gangs.

This constant hair on fire, hysterical and outright lying by the media is backfiring.

Ok I just did a google search for Michael Avenatti taxes and found this article from Fox. I suppose the left will say it’s fake news. Aside from Fox, no other major news sites have stories right now.

The State Bar of California is investigating porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti, Fox News has confirmed, after a complaint was filed regarding allegedly unpaid taxes.

Sorry I didn’t mean to hijack your thread, was just talking about media bias.

I think people may be wising up. Trump’s approval ratings are now on par with Obama’s at the same point in his first term and the generic ballot for congressional seats this fall has gone from about a +16 in the house to a near tie and last I heard odds are pretty strong republicans will gain up to four or five seats in the Senate.

Be ready for the all out assault between now and fall hitting monumental levels starting probably in July and for Mueller’s “report” to be written full of innuendo and insults with nothing bout collusion but painting Trump as an incompetent and a fool to justify impeaching him.

Even if they manage to get a small majority in the house impeachment isn’t going to happen and if it does, it will go no where in the Senate.
