Let’s take the wall and securing our Southern border. The President sees that as a priority. The legislature can either agree or disagree. If they agree, they will pass legislation, such as funding, to support the President’s priority. If they disagree, they won’t pass legislation to fund the border wall.
The President can’t tell Congress what to do. He can tell them his priorities, but they are free to do what they want.
Well aside from the fact that securing the border is part of the gop platform i understand how separation of powers work. Marching order is a platform, it’s overall direction. That he leaves it to them to figure out how to work out funding etc doesn’t change the fact that the direction comes from him. You are overthinking it.
Once again Trump has mixed success in this area. If voters truly like a candidate, the candidate will be reelected, despite Trump’s best efforts to prevent it.
He wasn’t all that successful doing that the last time around … Fact is, primary election results were pretty much the same as one could expect without his opinion on who should be ousted.
