No, you specified the 155mm which is a Howitzer.

155 mm is a caliber, not a weapon type. 155 mm M777 is designated as a cannon which is capable of both direct and ballistic fire. The fact is, there is very little distinction anymore between a field cannon and a howitzer.
But getting back to this silly statue destruction conversation, I would have those faces totally unrecognizable as human images with my guns and be home having a beer before you could set your charges.

I wouldn’t be averse to the idea.
But Mt. Rushmore has to be there so we don’t find Cíbola…
Just quit Samm, it should be embarrassing by now.
The M114 is a towed howitzer developed and used by the United States Army. It was first produced in 1942 as a medium artillery piece under the designation of 155 mm Howitzer M1. It saw service with the US Army during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, before being replaced by the M198 howitzer.
The gun was also used by the armed forces of many nations. The M114A1 remains in service in some countries.
After the end of the First World War a board later labeled the Westervelt Board...
Even naval 155’s are indirect fire weapons.
The M777 is just a modernized 155mm Howitzer.

Rushmore is way north of New Mexico. I doubt that your search would be impacted one way or the other.

Have no reason to be embarrassed.
Regardless, you are hung up on semantics. Whether you call it a howitzer or a cannon, from two miles away with an elevated target that can’t shoot back, what is called for is direct fire.
Those are all indirect fire weapons, not ideal for the suggested job.
