Well, thanks to the new mayor in Baltimore genuflecting to the “defund the cops” chuckleheads, he cut over a half million dollars from the mounted unit’s 2021 budget. This after construction of a $2.5 million dollar stable project was completed? The loss of funds will threaten Baltimore’s mounted unit’s existence, (the oldest in the country). Fortunately private funds are usually available; Maryland does have a rich horse racing community and the horse gets the best of care!
Believe it or not trained horses do not trample. Mounted patrol horses are trained to move humans with their size and girth. Any fool that thinks they’re going to stand ground against a horse has a few screws loose and will be deservedly embarrassed. There have been protesters who have snuck up behind a mounted patrol horse and startled him only to receive a swift kick. Those videos are hysterical!

When they are lined up abreast it’s a moving wall. You have to be a complete fool to resist or slip between them if the formation is correct.
