An election prediction I believe most/all will agree with

No matter who wins the political divide will continue and likely worsen more rapidly than ever. The makeup of Congress will be a factor as well with the best case scenario being a divided government.

I really don’t care who wins the Presidency as long as we have divided government. The idiots on both sides believe if they have the House by 5 votes and the Senate by 1 that they have a freaking mandate.

Great OP, how can we reverse this trend? Both sides are at fault. I do think part of the problem is the dems and republicans have allowed the more fringe members of their party to control the narrative.

Social media also has a part to play as it amplifies the partisanship that we can all suffer from. It also allows those fringe elements to have a louder voice than ever before. They shout the loudest so naturally they are heard more.

Despite my disdain for politicans I am sure we still have plenty in the house and senate who would welcome the opportunity to work together, reach compromise and find common ground.

Simple really:
Defund US universities that turn out radical anti semitic leftists. Revoke student visas of foreigners that engage in anti American activities. Higher education should be about meritocracy not DEI.
Overhaul the K-12 public education system in America. Taxpayers are funding illiteracy, that has to change.
Ignorant people can’t possibly be educated enough to choose candidates that are in their best interest.

And your post illustrates the way I knew this thread would go. Bravo for not dissapointing.

Gerrymandering plays a large part in this problem. If you carve up districts the right way, you never need to be moderate nor work across the aisle. Only the most extreme viewpoints win primaries and elections. In Michigan we outlawed Gerrymandering and I hope the rest of the US follows suit, it is the only way folks will work together again and get â– â– â– â–  done.

If Trump loses, I think things might mellow out and return to like an Obama/Bush era level of division.

Fair point from the mods. Though I stand by my overarching point that these discussions tend to make us buckle down in our respective corners and blame the other side.

So my question is to everyone what can the party you personally are aligned to, do different to help stop the widening partisan gap and get us to a position where compromise and finding common ground is possible,

no, that is not the best case

doubtful. In either case the speaker will be hostage to the fringe.

usually divided government means nothing happens which is a good thing

There is no such thing as a non gerrymandered district. They are all gerrymandered to achieve a result. You agreeing with the result does not make it not gerrymandered. It just changes the focus of the gerrymandering.

You approve of the abysmal performance of the education system in America?
How predictable.

Which is why Trump “loves the poorly educated.”

Well look at our candidates- Trump, and a San Francisco liberal.

Moderates don’t have a place.

But of course.

Nobody called Bush Hitler. Or a chimp. Or a fascist.

Trump is in their best interests.

And yours.

Between the two, of course.

“They” have some odd interests then.

That’s all it took for Biden to open up our borders…or for Roe to be reversed. It matters.

And I think not. Tump represents one side of the split in this country, he is not the cause of it.
