America is closed for businesses - thank you Democrats! 😠

Y’all may find this hard to believe but I don’t ever read his tweets unless someone’s put it in here. I get it, people use a crisis to bludgeon their enemies. That doesn’t help real people figure out next weeks bills. Other governors didn’t add two months. This went from two weeks, to two months, to as much as five months. I wish people would just step off partisan crap for a minute. It’ll be here when you get back.

Do you believe 2 added months for Oregon is appropriate?

Italy has been shut down far longer than 2-3 weeks.

But see at the root of this issue is our federal system of government.

99% of the time it works great, but with something like a pandemic, it’s not well designed to function.

It is very difficult to have a coordinated national response the way our government is constructed.

Great post.

I think most were looking towards the govt for some guidance that never materialized.

i find it highly inappropriate myself. The 2 extra months is going to do more harm than the virus itself.

1 month wasnt appropriate, let alone 2 more

unless someone can show evidence that committing economic suicide helped

i mean, helped minimize the burden on hospitals. not help twilight joe (or whoever they replace him with) in nov

dont forget to congratulate bill maher too, who outright hoped for this

Oh just wait, they’re making a Brave New World film, soon internet message boards will be filled up with failed references to that like there are for 1984.

A liberal pundit hoped for it on his TV show…therefore this whole thing is a Giant Liberal Plot to Ruin The Nation.

Scintillating example of the Faulty Generalization Fallacy.

Systems failure.

Sorry I am going to blame Cuomo and DeBlasio in early March for them telling New Yorkers that everything was all right more than I am going to blame “a lack of federal guidance”.

The same information that was available to the Feds…that our test and trace strategy had run aground from the beginning…that cases could explode from small numbers very fast and we were flying blind…was available to all of us by early March.

I’m not going to blame the Feds for the utter mismanagement of the NY subway system that we now have strong indications that it was a major disease spreading vector in the city.

The Feds had their failures…the states didn’t need to wait for the Feds to act.

I don’t believe it’s a myth, the sociological damage has devastating long term impact on people of their health. It will effect people long after this virus fades. To say otherwise would be naive.

There are studies that suggest this is in fact not true.

It sounds like it should be, but there’s little evidence for it actually happening.

Now…it is quite possible in this day and age, where the economy has grown more complex and globally interconnected than it was even in the days of the Depression that it might be different this time.

I’m quite ready to once again try and have a rational discussion on this matter.

But in a thread populated with people who descry this as a Giant Liberal Plot To Enslave America…such a rational discussion won’t even get off the ground.

Fauci was the conduit for the nation’s medical expertise at the beginning of a worldwide pandemic advising the president on what to expect medically and what should save the most lives medically. You seem to be arguing Trump had the authority to overrule Fauci and therefore it would have been a better strategy at that time to have gone with his own intuition and to have ignored that medical expertise in the early stages of the pandemic.

President Trump did have that authority.

That’s the whole point of this fallacy that this is all a Giant Liberal Plot.

I disagree. During the housing crisis I taken risk to earn a living. Most of my retirement saving that I was building up went bye bye during my peak earning period. That alone may have take 5 or more years off my life, not to mention my body. Instead of hiring young strong bodies I did it myself…thous ended up getting hurt myself.

We have “some” thinks Obama have dug us out of great recession. But those earning opportunities didn’t come back until around 2014…5 plus years or half decade later.

That’s like taken away 5 plus years of you peak earning years/period that one has during his only lifetime. And that’s just tip of long term effect it has on economy.

The devastation and cost is unmeasurable IMO.

There’s the ‘logic’ school of thought, and then there’s the ‘leaps of logic’ school.

Amazing what some consider “the left.” And quite telling.

I said nothing of the kind.

The only thing I said is the buck stopped with Donald Trump.

Again…making the idea that this is a Great Liberal Plot false on its face.

Pretty much. They’ve been going down this path for a while now. I actually tried to work to counter that from within for years. Once they nominated Trump, I knew they had reached the point of no return. They can have their pretend conservative party.
