Given everything Turkey did for ISIS I would not be surprised if they knew and/or helped keep Baghdadi safe to some degree.

Looks like the Turks were kept out of the loop, and the Kurds provided some intel which helped locate him.
Baghdadiās did a lot to discredit the Arab Spring and reinforce the tyrannical rule dictators throughout the region. Anyone that craves freedom can and is often labeled a terrorist first and only by these dictators, Assad being a prime example. These people go hand in glove to the detriment of their victims.
