A Scenario for the End of Trump's Presidency?

The CEC is more powerful than them

I read the article, and it’s impossible to speculate how well informed this guy is. But I have a hard time seeing Senate Republicans moving on impeachment unless Donald’s base abandons him. So long as he keeps them placated the GOP is essentially like Ted Cruz - neutered by Donald.

ā€œThe baseā€ does not pay the bills.

That is the best outcome. Resign after getting the electoral ā– ā– ā– ā–  kicked out of him. Repudiated. Embarrassed. Mondale-level ass kicking.

America needs to get rid of him, not America’s institutions.

Then extradite his sorry ass to New York.

They only need nineteen republicans to flip out of fifty three… Sounds plausible to me.

Please link to what he has been convicted with . . . or even charged with.

Thanks in advance.

Conviction in the Senate depends on what the polls say, at the time. Senators will vote the way they think will keep them in office.
Trump doesn’t need Pence to pardon him. He can pardon himself.

You seriously gonna play this weak game?

Lol…

One theory is a soft exit. Mueller goes to to trump and says you resign and we dont charge you.

The CEC has no power; it does have influence with the base and with Republican politicians. A group with real power would not be vulnerable to advertiser boycotts… the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson have that sort of power.

The main influence the CEC wields over Republican politicians is the threat of organizing opponents in primaries. If Republicans start to believe they are at a disadvantage in the general election, fear of primaries will drop.

Yeah…it isn’t right that we place tariffs on products from countries that place tariffs on ours or receive special incentives from their government that never allows for actual free trade.

Do you think a man with an entire career of going by the book like Robert Mueller would break precedent and try to indict a sitting President? I find that doubtful.

Republican Media and Hillary Clinton.

If Trump is the 2020 GOP Nominee, the Republicans will likely lose the Senate.

Yep, Republican media has already indicted and convicted Hillary.

I’m I missing any?

Regardless of who is the nominee, the Republicans face a very tough Senate map in 2020, defending enough seats in blue states that it will be hard for the Republicans to maintain a majority. This is the reverse of the electoral map this year, which placed the Democrats at a disadvantage.

The hope for Republicans is that the Democrats will come with a candidate so deeply flawed (let’s imagine some synthesis of Michael Dukakis and Hillary Clinton for a moment) who manages to depress Democratic turnout to Republican advantage.

Trump, since his inauguration has turned into something of a Democratic turnout machine; to the disadvantage of Republicans.

Good point, but I think the point in Reich’s article is that the primary funders of the Republican Party disagree with you and are more drawn to maximizing corporate profits than maximizing what is right.

My question to you is how do tit-for-tat tariffs solve anything? The US can raise tariffs on goods from other countries, but those countries can raise their tariffs right back. How do you gain anything when your tools are no more powerful than your opponents?

…cuz ā€œweā€ have a larger economy than the ā€œopponentsā€ who depend more on us, than us on them.

He could live in Switzerland like Marc Rich did or even Brazil like Joe Conforte did

Is it only size? The Chinese stopped buying US soybeans and shifted all the purchases to Russia. How do you counter that?

Here’s my question. President Trump said that trade wars were easy to win when he started this one. Can you cite an example of an easily won successful trade war?
