A Rational National COVID Plan

Not scientists. Not epidemiologists, not virologists. Don’t work for the government. Data geeks.

After you get through attacking the source, we can discuss.

1) Communicate the age-stratified fatality rates

CDC’s current best estimates for age-stratified infection fatality rates (IFR) are:

  • 0-19 years: 0.003%
  • 20-49 years: 0.02%
  • 50-69 years: 0.5%
  • 70+ years: 5.4%

The risk to people under the age of 20 is over 1000 times lower than the risk to those over 70.

 I follow the data!

We’ve been had.

so let the old people die, everything else goes back to normal.

You should have read it before commenting.

I did read it.

If you had, you wouldn’t have made that inane comment. They actually argue for the exact opposite.

they are arguing for less testing, less restrictions, and that it will just “Go away”

I take issue with this part:

6) Recognize naturally-acquired immunity

Naturally-acquired immunity to COVID-19 is rarely officially acknowledged, and the CDC recently claimed that a vaccine is better than natural immunity. This is deeply unscientific and incredibly harmful on many levels. We must cease denying the overwhelming scientific evidence that our immune systems respond to SARS-CoV2, that infection is broadly protective against future infection, and that there are many people who do not contract COVID-19 due to cross-immunity from prior similar infections. The campaign against naturally-acquired immunity, and antibodies in particular, is singularly bizarre in the face of a vaccine “solution” that triggers a naturally-occurring immune response. This has been so misreported that much of the public views COVID-19 similarly to AIDS—constantly mutating in order to avoid and stymie our bodies’ natural defenses. We don’t currently have any evidence that SARS-CoV-2 mutates rapidly, and in that case, a vaccine would be useless—as it is against AIDS.

I just reviewed a paper that tracked the decline of antibody levels in individuals. The persons that are most severely affect had higher rates of antibody retention at the 60 day mark, in which the participants were tested. Antibodies are temporary, but a template is left to mount an immune response upon reinfection.

Of course a vaccine is better than naturally acquired immunity. One requires infection and symptoms that can range from none to mild to severe; the other is a vaccine to prevent hospitalization and death.

Also, the vaccine is effective against the new mutant strains of the virus.

i’d just settle to see actual data that wearing masks is worth all the trouble

esp since fauci said they wont help

That’s theory.

Ok

Debatable. You would continue the lockdown, ignoring all other effects, until everyone is vaccinated?

How onerous is it to wear a mask correctly? It is intriguing to see selective quotes that are attributed to Dr Fauci. Without providing the verbatim quote who indicated that there are 15 cases and soon it will be down to zero?

Thank you for participating with a thoughtful post, by the way.

Please define how to wear a mask correctly. Lets see if you get the answer right.

Are they planning on living longer than Frank Langella in Dracula?

We’re going out of the way to treat our young and their educational & vocational opportunities as expendable while going out of the way to preserve those who have lived long lives.

How backwards.

Did you bother to READ the article?

A shift away from rapid antigen to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing is being advised.

Shifting from one method of testing to another & elimination of testing on a symptomatic individuals is being advised.

The Red Cross tests all blood donations for COVID 19, anyway.

Most states are lifting restrictions. Which ones are continuing with the same level of lock down?
