In both cases, they had access to multiple deadly weapons. Would it have been any better if either of them had come back out of the house with a kitchen knife?
Handguns require practice to use effectively. You hand someone a handgun and tell them to shoot a target at 25 feet and 99 times out of 100, they wonât even come close to hitting it.
Theyâd be better served running someone over with their car. In the Florida incident, considering the other person was on a motorcycle, she could have easily done that.
Without any sort of instruction and practice, they arenât nearly as effective as something like a baseball bat.
Hitting someone with an object, or even using your fists, is natural. Itâs something the body does out of instinct. Humans have been doing that since we first walked upright.
Utilizing a projectile weapon that requires utilizing your motor skills and critical thinking, like a bow or a gun, requires at least some level of instruction and practice to become competent. You have to learn how to aim properly. How to counter the recoil with good stance. How to even draw the gun and flip off the safety (granted, a lot of double action semi autos donât have mechanical safeties, but theyâll still use a trigger safety or a back strap safety that has to be depressed to function).
