Uh. I literally addressed that exact article, linked to a statement in the BMJ discussing it’s faulty methodology and then gave a peer reviewed study with generally accepted methodology. Like I said, people have latched on to that bad study and continue to run with it even after it has been thoroughly discredited.

Discussed it above. The Johns Hopkins study was pretty horrible and used bad methods. This study, which is peer reviewed with vastly superior methods, found about 5,000 deaths per year (versus 250,000+) directly attributable to medical error. That number has fallen 20% over the last 25 years when adjusting for population. Of course zero deaths per year from medical error is the only acceptable number, but that’s a lot less than some would have you believe.
