The Chinese are a great example of balkanization. They lived for the most part in self segregating communities for most of a hundred years preventing their young people from being able to fully participate in American Culture and assimilate.
For the rest, assimilation was the goal and usually happened within one or two generations.
American culture is multiculturalism, your a nation of immigrants.
Your own state is defined by European and Latin culture.
We’re a nation of immigrants who came here and combined into one culture.
When new populations fail to assimilate they stagnate.
That is what multiculturalism is.

That is thing like “Southern values” exist.
That is why there is pocket of French people in Louisiana but they are not classic French they are their own hybrid version.
Culture mix and flow as people grow up the only countries with true assimilation are those that do it by force of government.
No, that is not “multiculturalism”.
The goal of multiculturalism is not assimilation, it is to maintain distinctly separate cultures and cultural identities.

Wouldn’t you need to start with the original indigenous people’s culture.
even then there is no “Original” indigenous culture they are all so different.

American culture is what you see with your eyes…its everything from the nra to boston vs the yankees. Its southern bbq to gay pride parades. Its your roof down in a 64 mustang to driving your Prius sipping a starbucks.

I would define it as someone just flows from culture to culture they all exist and you can just jump from one to another, feel like being Scottish wear a kilt throw some logs, feel like being Indian be my guest, everything is just mix together they are all equal.
which is completely opposite of the old world were born Irish you die Irish you will never be the same as Polish, Scottish, English.
The original indiginous culture was defeated and mostly wiped out. They were not Americans as there was no America for several hundred years after the Europeans first Arrived.
please define American culture since your so forced on assimilation it should be easily enough to do.
Pizza is not culture and just like hamburgers we have different pizzas because not everyone wants to eat the same pizza everywhere they go or for every meal in which they eat pizza.

Until we got hell bent on multiculturalism American Culture was pretty easy to define. Football, Baseball, Hotrods, R&R, Country Music, Beer, Pizza, Rodeo, and NASCAR.
Individualism was prized over identity politics and we were working for equal treatment for all rather than special group rights.
The Balkanized mess we’re living in today is directly attributable to multiculturalism.
Food is part of a culture, it is not The Culture.
American culture is so easily to define why is Texas culture and New Hampshire culture completely different, shouldn’t they be the same after all assimilation.
