2nd Unite the Right Rallies Slated for Charlottesville and DC

I didn’t realize you were an Iraqi?

I’d agree with that.

I’m not.

Was wondering if you were upset when you saw that happening on TV or if you were cheering like many other Americans were when big, bad Saddam was beat and his weapons of mass destruction were rendered useless.

Did you forget? I didn’t and never said that. I said by far the majority of those that died freeing slaves, were white.

Having been born in Detroit and lived in the south, I’ll bet you I’ve denounced more racists to their face than you’ll ever do. I also don’t just shoot off my mouth, find a safe space and point fingers. If I see a problem, I confront it.

No one is arguing that any particular southern farmer or worker read or heard Stephens’s speech, which includes this claim about slavery:

Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.

The idea of people fighting for this government^ thinking (as you put it)

“we will fight, win, and push to abolish slavery through lawful means”

Is roughly as relevant to this discussion as a German solider in World War II thinking: Yeah, we’ll win this war; we’ll conquer all of Europe and Russia; then, we’re going to welcome the Jews back and reintegrate them through legal means! It’s inane.

Any forums members here attending? Thanks.

Seems there is a debate about dress code

That is true. M

It is also true a significant number fought on the opposite side to keep them enslaved.

Yeah, I’m sure that little Nazi, James Fields, who ran down those innocent people, thought he was going to roll back people’s negative views and bigoted thoughts about the white supremacist community at large. I doubt it had the impact his twisted mind was figuring on.

That is ■■■■■■■ hilarious.

Here is a sad statistic.

I understand the point you are making. And can’t fault you for saying it. However, if you are just an average person, born and raised in South Carolina or Georgia, and your state government decided to go to war, you sure as hell could choose to stay out of it. Sspecially if it’s purpose is presented to you as “fight and die to protect slavery.” And the rich slave owners were allowed to remain civilians and opt out of serving in the army.

If it were me, I would have packed up my family and headed north.

However, what if you thought you could just stay out of the war, and remained at your small farm house?

As the war starts to come to your small farm, and you hear about Sherman’s march to the sea. You hear the stories of farms and homes looted, burned, and women raped? You are trapped like a rat, eh?

Isn’t it possible some people found themselves in this predicament, and joining the Conf army was the only way they saw to try and protect their family and property?

I agree with this. I can’t blame the average Soldier since most enlisted to protect their homeland or were drafted.

Yep…but that’s pretty much all that’s stated and that’s why I made my post.

I like this, so you are trying to tell me, what I feel?

Let me educate you, a Constitutional conservative is for freedom, liberty, human rights, you know, those things outline in our founding documents and the US Constitution.

You are sounding ignorant if you think our US Constitution “is feel-good, glittering generality.”

And your rewriting history about the CRA is rich, also. The only reason we needed the 14th, amendment, CRA, Voting rights Act, etc…, is because freedom hating Democrats, who for decades controlled the mechanisms of government, like the SCOTUS rulings, wanted to keep people repressed and discriminated against.

Whoops… you got caught again. But that’s the plan… isn’t it. A number of the original readers will never read the correction.

Editor’s note: A data error by the author of the study cited here inflated the percentage of non-Hispanic white Americans with alt-right compatible views up to 12 percent. The actual figure is 5.64 percent. All numbers in the piece and headline have been updated to reflect the correct figures.

I posted the article with the correction made and it is still a sad number of people to believe that.

At this point … none of it is believable.

Sure if you want to bury your head.
