There are plenty of remote places where the river is knee deep, and no wall stops entry, and there is nothing ahead of them into US territory but desert and scrub brush.
It would be stupid of them to keep marching toward some point of entry, for sure.
I’m hoping some of that infrastructure Trump is touting is a drone fleet and quick-engage border patrol agents to intercept the ones who are robust enough to chance it in the badlands. At least until the wall gets built.
That does mean the legal process can’t be abused. That is what the adjudication process is for. If we all think 80-90% of all asylum seekers are lying… we should be asking for much faster and better adjudication.. not just outright bans.
“One of Trump’s orders calls for the immediate deportation of migrants who crossed the border illegally without a chance to plead their case to an asylum officer.”
What happens will now be up to,the courts, eventually the Supreme Court.
“Juan Ramon de la Fuente, Mexico’s secretary of external relations, said in a news conference Monday morning that if “they reinstate [Remain in Mexico], this is something we don’t agree with. We have a different focus. We want to adjust it. … The desire is to keep the same policies as now.”
