It is. You know what else is a cool story? The book The Balkans by Misha Glenny that covers the Eastern European Slavic nations from their wars for independence from the Ottoman Empire until the 1990s.

Google is who they are today because someone gave them a lot of money at the beginning.

The US is where they are today because of free labor and selective breeding, at the beginning of the union, that allowed them to gain significant wealth.
