Here’s the story. A group of people who actually thing PED’s are a good idea have decided to spit in the face of WADA, the IOC, and god knows what else to form their own sanctioning body and hold their own sporting competition.
PEDs dont give someone talent they do not have. I see no real difference between this and someone using performance enhancing equipment such as a footwear.
I know different governing bodies have different rules for performance enhancing equipment but still in many cases they are allowed.
If you knew the long-term effects of PED’s, you would not think that way.
Yes, you still need to have talent, yes you still need to put in the work, but are you willing to put up with endless heart surgeries just to win a Mr Olympia crown (think Arnold Schwarzenegger) or die an early death from brain cancer (Lyle Alzado), or have endless problems with your knees, spine, and neck (Terry Bollea aka ‘Hulk’ Hogan)?
Oh i am sure its not good for you but a lot of professional sports men and woman suffer from medical issues due to what they put their bodies through to perform at the highest level and thats without PEDs.
If everyone has the same access go PEDs does that not level the playing field?
A minor leaguer or rookie making league minimum doesn’t have the same resources as the bonus baby, or the superstar with the multi-year, hundreds of millions $$$ contract and endorsement deals.
It’s not just that. A lot of this stuff is illegal in the US, but if you live in say San Diego Ca, or Dallas TX, you can just hop the border and get anything you want in Mexico.
So the San Diego Padres, and the Texas Rangers will have a definite advantage over the New York Yankees if you get my drift.
If you’re a free agent who wants to be the next Barry Bonds, where are you going to sign?
I enjoy when people who disagree about many topics on this board end up in rigid alignment. There is certainly no level playing field when some people can buy their way into performance through PEDs.
its the same way in horse racing, money to be made, so in goes the drugs to make the horse run faster. of course the feds test the horses to make sure its on the up and up.
I think the idea is to not have to use a substance that is harmful in order to compete. It’s not like the sticky gloves WRs use to make it easier to catch the ball. They’re not harmful. Even though I think any glove should be disallowed in the NFL.
