Yeha, this is just it - the GOP is crying that they can’t put up witnesses. Then, when they will have th chance to, they won’t. And no one on the right will call that hypocritical or idiotic.

If the self testimony concerns a criminal activity on the individuals part, yes they can refuse to answer under the 5th amendment. However they cannot refuse to answer questions that don’t concern criminal activity on their part, criminal activity on the part of another, or non-criminal activity.
For example, “Mr. Smith did you rob the bank?”, Mr. Smith can take the 5th. Verses “Mr. Smith did you attend Elm Street Elementary School?”, Mr. Smith can’t take the 5th on such questions.

If the Senate grants immunity from prosecution, then no criminal case can arise and therefore the 5th Amendment is rendered moot and the individual must answer questions. It is only when a criminal case can exist does the 5th Amendment apply.

Dems will call Pompeo.
Roberts will call on him and ask if there is anyone against this.
Graham or someone will block him from testifying.
Robert’s will put this up for a up or down vote. I believe Roberts being the tie breaker.
51 in favor and he has to show up.
51 not in favor he doesnt.
