You have completely ignored the whole purpose of being there in the first place, and the series of events that led up to withdrawing. You are trying to make this about a “war with Turkey”, which is not the decision Trump had to make. He has all sorts of paths he could have taken as we evaluated any further ISIS actions; but instead he just abruptly abandoned an ally.
It was a decision that is impossible to reverse, and you want to leverage that to frame everyone as war mongers. But sorry, that is not how it works, we can evaluate this major ■■■■ is for what it was.
His question only highlights how big of a mistake this was, he took a situation that required 50 people to keep stable (while we could have worked on diplomatic solutions) and turned it into a situation that apparently needs a declaration of war against Turkey in order to “fix” it in the mind of his cultists.
Does it make sense to you that the US would risk all out war with Turkey, as well as the lives of 50 Americans, because we thought it would make no sense for Turkey to take essentially the same risk with us?
That’s called playing chicken.
I don’t think the United States is worried about war with NATO ally Turkey, no. If we had left our troops there and told them to stay out, they would have stayed out.
“All out war with Turkey”, complete nonsense. Turkey has an extremely weak justification for this “buffer zone”, it is an obvious land grab while Syria is unstable.
Why should France bother even though they bore a horrible price in terrorist attacks from ISIS, they have the U.S. to be the policemen of the world while they get to spend their money on things their citizens want like lavish social programs the left wants.
All this pro war stuff from the left will stop the day Trump leaves office and we will be told about how interventionism is costing us in life and treasure.
We cannot see what would have been the result of the alternative action of leaving those troops between the Turks and the Kurds. We can imagine the results would be whatever fits our viewpoint, but we do not know how the alternate action would have played out.
True, but you can say that about all of history’s mistakes. “Maybe the alternative would have been worse!” At some point it’s time to own up to a mistake.
Is there anything that Trump has ever said or done that you aren’t jumping in there accepting every rumor as true and acting outraged? You are absolutely in no position to charge bias against anyone.
