Yet you never see the rich wanting to be poor.
Besides trying to live peacefully in a black neighborhood?
White people deal with that? Interesting. Tell me more.
Tall people are servants to short people when it comes to cabinets, shelves and the like, so there is that.
That only works for chicks, I would never ask someone to help me get something out of a cabinet or off a shelve. You either jump, climb on the counter or get a step stool. You don’t ask another dude to do that for you.
The entire government was built for and by white people (not your fault btw, it just is).
True, then adjustments had to be made. Not just for black people.
The existence of Affirmative action, public accommodation laws, CRA. (Not your fault)
How is those white privilege?
If white people wanted to avoid black people… they could, fairly easily. Black people don’t have that luxury. It doesn’t even need to be purposeful. White people can accidentally avoid black people. (Not your fault)
Bull ■■■■■ but ok. Is that because of being 13% of the population or because “black”?
Is Ebonics a dialect that would get me a job at Google? Ever heard of “code switching”? (Not your fault)
Is Scot? What’s the dialect of business?
How would White people feel if the entire Police Department in your city, was black? Would it feel comfortable? This is the black experience today. (Not your fault)
City? No it isn’t. Now in a town, maybe. Is it black culture to encourage becoming a police officer. They can’t hire unless you apply.
Now imagine that the entire prosecutors office is black. And all of the judges at all levels of the judiciary are also black. Would you feel privileged? (Not your fault)
In a city? State?
Bottomline is privilege is a feeling. And often people don’t know they have it. It doesn’t mean you are at fault for having it. It just is.
Your feeling about my feeling?
because I am a minority in this country
Not because you’re black?

I wouldn’t know, I’m not wealthy, I’m just rich.
You have to be wealthy to know that?
Yeah, you kinda have to be on the inside to actually know what you’re talking about from the outside.
You may think a rich kid’s life is all rainbows and privilege with nothing to complain about, but that’s coming from the outside looking in.
Yet you never see the rich wanting to be poor.
Or black people wanting to be white.
Or black people wanting to be white.
Because it isn’t possible
Do you disagree that some of the effects of systemic govt. sponsored racism still linger today?
That’s too vague to answer. Linger where?
SixFoot:

What they choose to do with there privilege is none of my concern, unless it negatively affects me. However there is no denying that the more money you have… the more privilege you have.
Sorry, you don’t get to just decide who has privilege and who doesn’t, especially when you’re labeling an entire race from an outside perspective.
WuWei:
You have to prove it if you are going to call it white and assign it to me.
Who said we were assigning anything to you specifically? Is White privilege your fault?
I am white.
Am I?

If you didn’t know that, you’re a lot better off than most black people ever were. Nice privilege.

No, not because… and you know it. Would you if it were possible?
Went straight into concrete work, hopped a bus to Texas and did more concrete work, 12 years total, and been in residential construction since. Had a cabinet shop for fifteen years, now do custom walk in closets for the wealthy. One closet for the trophy wife can cost more than all the furnishings in my home LOL.
No, not because… and you know it. Would you if it were possible?
If I could take everything about my personality and have it in a white body, in America, I would. There are zero downsides.
SixFoot:
OK, thank you for clearing that up. Privilege is a feeling, and most people don’t have it.
Can I feel anti privileged? I mean I am pretty short for a guy and I am also pretty sure height privilege is better than white privilege.
Great point.
WuWei:

Stop.
I tried concrete work in in Ft. Lauderdale once… in June… That first day on the jackhammer… holy crap. Then this hurricane came charging in and I danced in the rain as if I summoned it myself.
30 minutes later, imagine my disappointment in learning that down there, thunderstorms just mean a smoke break, not the end of the work day…

Many places. The hiring practices of small business would be one example.
If you didn’t know that, you’re a lot better off than most black people ever were. Nice privilege.
Huh?

“Black privilege”
Stop.
What are the downsides of being white in America?
SixFoot:
If you didn’t know that, you’re a lot better off than most black people ever were. Nice privilege.

“Black privilege”
No such thing as “black” privilege, or “white” privilege.
Your privilege comes from not knowing any of the white people living in black neighborhoods, or their struggles that come with it.
Maybe whitey had it coming.
