White Las Vegas teen beaten to death at school

Correct.
That is how it was reported on the news.

Exactly. Hate crimes are rarely adjudicated at the time of the crime. They aren’t necessarily that blatant about it.

If it is determined to be a hate crime, then so be it. Regardless of that determination… this is a ridiculous mob/gang beating. Probably for social media clout.

15 vs 1

Doesn’t mean it’s based on race.

Also another example of conservatives finding something racial that isn’t. It’s becoming a pattern

…the laws of probability dictate otherwise. Remove your feelings and replace them with logic…if possible?

You are the one who should remove your feelings. I’m not making up a hate crime without relevant evidence. You and other conservatives are.

If it is later determined to be a hate crime because the kids who were assaulting were screaming about the victims race or something along those lines… then I’m ok with a hate crime.

Your playing tic-tac-toe

He doesn’t believe black people can be racist.

BS. Every time this happens they see a chance to get revenge for “400 years of oppression and ‘white privilege’ keeping us down”. They have been conditioned to hate whites their whole lives.

That’s a damn lie. Black people can definitely be racist. I say this as a black guy.

However I’m not seeing anything that rises to a hate crime here. Not yet anyway. Either way these teens are pieces of ■■■■ for ganging up and beating on anyone like that.

I’m black. I have not been conditioned to hate whites. And my parents and grandparents were raised in Jim Crow south.

You don’t know these type of kids… I mentor them. I can confidently say they do not give a ■■■■ about slavery or 400 years of oppression. Heck some of them barely attend school (the kids I mentor). Their parents don’t talk about white people… they themselves are often minimally educated and concerned with how they will get their next meal or next fix.

Translation.

It’s not their fault.

Why do you keep making up these ridiculous accusations?

The kids in this video are pieces of ■■■■ and deserve whatever is coming to them.

My post above was directly addressing the “oh it’s a hate crime because all 15 were taught to hate white people”.

I think it’s a mistake to dig in with calling it a race-based attack – or more specifically a hate crime.

We’ve allowed the libs to hijack this discussion into a deflection on whether or not it’s a hate crime because of that. The OP merely questioned whether it would be considered so – and I saw that as a disguised reference to how this would have been treated in the media had the races been reversed. (You’ll notice that it’s certainly not prominent in any sort of wall-to-wall coverage as it would have been had the races been reversed.)

There most certainly is a racial component to the incident though. (Not necessarily a hate crime, mind you.) It’s an all-black gang – something far too common among that demographic. And it would be a safe bet that most (if not all) of the group have no father at home. That’s a trend that will only continue to grow. A self propagating trend.

I’m simply looking at the information provided in the OP and expressing an educated opinion. Those are the only rules. Whatever past racial hang-ups you want to apply to this case simply don’t matter.

That’s your story isn’t it.

Everything is racist until you don’t think it should be.

I don’t know if this was a racist act or not…and I’ve never been a big fan of hate crime laws. Murder is murder…that’s the crime that was committed here.

Whomever posted above that the hate crime discussion allows lefties to hijack the discussion is right. I’m still trying to figure out why so many leftists were hung up on who thru the first punch.

These punks killed a man…there’s your hate crime.

Yeah…15 black kids gaining up on 1 white kid and beating him to death does not involve any hate to you…a black guy. Thanks for the input.

I don’t disagree. What I pointed out is the probability that’s being ignored without “digging in”.

I mean. The idea of a hate crime was literally introduced in the OP.

I think we can all agree the racial aspect was just a coincidence. I’m sure if we look, we can find a case where the races are reversed.

I understand that you, and others, might not agree with the concept of hate crimes. But just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean hate crimes don’t have an actual meaning. You don’t get to just invent a new way of interpreting hate crimes and apply it to the OP. That’s not how things work.
