What are you talking about? All crimes blacks commit involving white people are hate crimes? There is video in this case. If you want to talk about the problems in our society involving black people and crime, have at it. But making this about a hate crime does not work given the video.
“It found that a majority of the 73.7 million American children under age 18 live in families with two parents (69 percent)—a decrease from 88 percent in 1960. Of those 50.7 million children living in families with two parents, 47.7 million live with two married parents and 3 million live with two unmarried parents.
Broken down by race, however, the statistics show stark differences. The percentage of White children under 18 who live with both parents almost doubles that of Black children, according to the data. While 74.3 percent of all White children below the age of 18 live with both parents, only 38.7 percent of African-American minors can say the same.
Instead, more than one-third of all Black children in the United States under the age of 18 live with unmarried mothers—compared to 6.5 percent of White children. The figures reflect a general trend: During the 1960-2016 period, the percentage of children living with only their mother nearly tripled from 8 to 23 percent and the percentage of children living with only their father increased from 1 to 4 percent.
Social scientists have long espoused the benefits for children who live in two-parent homes, including economic, educational, health and other advantages.“.
Too many young people being doomed from the start…
It’s called a double standard and you’re guilty of it. IMO…and remaining consistent…this was a hate crime. The fact that all of them jumped on one guy, not just the individual assaulted but all of them, reinforces that conclusion. I’m sorry for applying logic and not feelings but that’s how I roll.
I disagree. The kid they attacked wasn’t singled out because he was white. He was singled out because he punched someone in their group. I am not surprised in the slightest that a large group of boys all acted as one. Mobs act as one. IMO, they didn’t all decide to attack this kid because he was white, they attacked him because he punched on of the 12 and the 12 all decided to punch back.
That’s not at all what I said. Seems you’re the one who’s trying to create a narrative.
I’ve never supported hate crimes legislation…I know I’m probably in the minority but what is a murder if not an act of hate…especially when 1 boy dies in a fight with 15…I don’t care what color they are…
However I will say again I’ve been called a racist on this forum for simply disagreeing with a black president’s policies. So don’t as a reliable liberal be surprised when I wonder how you would react if 15 white guys beat a back kid to death.
As i pointed out above the problem of big city kids growing up in one parent homes is on the rise…so it’s possible to actually recognize the race of the culprits in this particular crime as an example of a larger problem in America…
However it seems that in this one case you want to play by a different set of rules than the ones you participated in establishing for the last decade or more?
For the left…everything has been racist for a long time. Unless I guess it’s a story like this.
Most times when they behave this way, I think it’s just because it’s easy targets. @TheRedComet had an excellent post earlier about it being gangbangers, and I agree. That said, I’ll go further and blame it on single moms as well because a father would tell them at an early age that 15 on 1 is weak, dishonorable, and soft. That’s why they select easy targets (elderly, outnumbered, etc).
If you watch the video, a lot of people are standing around, and then someone (identified in the OP’s link as the kid who died) starts throwing punches. So it doesn’t look like self-defense to me, even if he was sticking up for his friend. As for a hate crime, not all violent acts between people of different skin tones are hate crimes. And what difference does it make? Is beating a kid to death somehow more evil if it’s a hate crime? Not in my opinion.
