He might…every single day after July 13th of 2024 are extra days of his life.
Of him being a lame duck pres? No. Will he have a say in who’s going to take the mantel…maybe. I’m thinking he’s going to let his supporters to decide.
And if I’m a betting man it will be either Vance or Rubio. My money is on Vance. Trump selected him for a reason…a reason that he only knows. He’s also young enough to shape his Trump philosophy…Trump doctrine.

Understand one thing whether some of you may not accept or like…Trump is on a mission. He will not stop even if it kill him.
In his mind, he believes he was meant to survive.
And you all know it…even if some of you cannot accept it. And his supporters believe it too.
MAGA isn’t going anywhere…at least not for any foreseeable future.

Best thing is for him to leave graciously. Fat chance if the Democratic candidate wins. He’ll call it fake and try to overthrow it for Vance.

It will be interesting if someone can replicate his success or even try. We could see the empire strike back (country club republicans) try and take back over and shift politics back to more of W Bush.

And just as aside note no i am not saying that Regan or President Trump are despots of the same vein. They are just leaders in a post modern period that fit the bill
This an excellent post but the last sentence gets away form reality. MAGA in its current form depends on him to be a public figure. Without him it gets coopted

The problem I see who’s going to speak for MAGA…as seen in my one topic. But American first idea is here to stay…in fact I see libs co-opting it for themselves the moment Trump peels over.
MAGA and America First are not the same thing.

They are die hard socialists and drifting farther left every day.
MAGA is just a current name for a philosophy. It’s a philosophy parallel to the TEA party. To the Moral Majority. To the same philosophy among grassroots individuals that has ebbed and flowed throughout my lifetime. That philosophy has consistently been opposed by liberals, by intelligentsia, by media, mostly because it threatens unfettered sin. (Yes, I said it.)
The big IMMEDIATE difference is that the philosophy is being embraced by a “yuge” politician who doesn’t care what it does to him or his political career, and the opposition can’t shut him up. It has made more progress in the first 6 months of this Trump administration that during the rest of this century. And after Trump’s term is finished, he will still wield “yuge” influence until he dies. As long as he lives, other politicians will be able to draft off his influence, and he will be a shield for them, and the philosophy will continue to move forward politically.
And if the opposition manages to kill Trump, it will be like the ending scene in Braveheart, where MAGA is supposed to roll over and die, submit to the Longshanks elite, but instead fight them with fury on the fields of Bannockburn.

There are two MAGAs. The philosophy, and the caricature of Trump.
The latter will end with Trump’s death. (NOT with the end of Trump’s presidency, unless his death ends his presidency.) The former is older than any of us here.
I think there is some confusion and this is a response to this post and your longer one and @conan - MAGA is a specific political philosophy that has brought together groups of people who otherwise share little political philosophy.
It’s many conservatives but it is not conservative. It’s some America first.l but it not America first. It’s some isolationists. It’s some internet garbage humans (this isn’t a criticism just a statement of who is in the group)
I do not believe MAGA is an iteration of the century old philosophy you are describing. It is simply a giant tent that is being held together by the President.
