Likely many of these schools that are more concerned about so-called ethnic diversity will simply use things like socioeconomic status to compensate.
Race baiters will whine and gripe and these schools will find a work around.
Same â– â– â– â– â– different day.
I don’t think it will have much of a factor. It should have always been socioeconomic anyways. Kind of insulting to say that just because you are Black that makes you disadvantaged, lots of wealthy Black families out there.
But if a poor kid, color not withstanding, achieves excellence despite lack of quality resources, nutrition and educational opportunities, that should be taken into account. That kid is much more likely to succeed than a rich kid who got every advantage and only equaled him or her. They deserve that shot at the brass ring, whether it is a poor white kid from Mississippi or a Black kid from a Baltimore slum.
The effect? When you find out your doctor is black, there will no longer be the question of whether he is there because of his ability or the color of his skin. This benefits both the doctor and the patient.
I have never questioned the ability of any doctor i have had based on the color of their skin.
Weird anyone would think that.
When you see a white doctor do you think its possible he is there just because their parent was uber wealthy and that got them through med school?
I think this is the stake in the heart of affirmative action and it is passed.
However, I do think that institutions will instead use socio-economic status as a work around for AA.
Which is NOT entirely bad, because socio-economic status is a valid indicator. Race is not.
The answer to one set of privileged elite should not be the creation of a new set of privileged elite.
this just makes it hard to be official about what goes on
university leftists will continue to cater to their imagined victims
Yes, but there will be more lawsuits filed by white guys who can’t for the life of them figure out why they didn’t get accepted to Harvard.
no non-whites ever suing for same reason tho huh?
I’ve never heard of one. Have you? Please cite. Actually, now that I think of it, maybe that’s how this got started.
no it’s un heard of, people claiming they were wronged because they weren’t white
all my imagination
SES is racist code now.
It should be based on cognitive ability.
Valid indicator of what?
Are you kidding?
My kids’ elementary school had a course set aside for gifted students. It turned out that this consisted of overwhelmingly whites and Asians with few blacks or Hispanics. The school superintendent decided that instead of having the top 20% of students attend that class, they would have the top 20% of each ethnic group attend. I assume this is the sort of treatment this case would prevent. (Actually, it was prevented by the superintendent going elsewhere with much thanks for her great ideas like this, which went with her.)
Is this not the case with many people of Asian decent (whether from China, Korea, India, etc.)? I find this whole situation a bit ironic as was it not the so-called “elite” institutions that pushed for the high SAT scores, high GPA’s, etc., so as to be highly selective of who they admit? Now those very same institutions don’t like the rules they pushed!
If that is all it’s based it on, there would not be enough room in the state of Massachusetts for all the people that qualified.
That’s the issue: you only have so many seats to fill, and lots of candidates. So, someone has to get left out.
It should motivate merit based admissions into higher education institutions.
Essentially, early in high schools students should be told: “ You want to go to college? You have to work your ass off get grades, have the GPA and qualify.
No more free passes because of your skin color”.
US Schools better start educating and â– â– â– â– can this diversity, inclusion, identity and other politically motivated horse dung.
Chinese, Russian and Indo school students aren’t subjected to indoctrination, well maybe to an extent. They’re learning to compete.
