Dog racing in Florida, gone, by the hand of a conservative legislature, though it was actually bipartisan in support. The dogs were pretty badly mistreated and they had years to do something about it before the axe fell. I like to think horses are treated better, though many claim they are not.
Yeah it’s been (losing my sense of time) between 5 and 10 years since a majority of voters here in Massachusetts voted to eliminate greyhound racing.
