What is going on with hemorrhagic fever in China?

Here is a recent report from a government source in China:

And for Xi’an, Chinese analysts said that the city faced the dual challenge of cluster COVID-19 infections and the spread of hemorrhagic fever, an acute infectious disease characterized by fever, bleeding and renal damage, which can lead to death.

Health experts said that the early stage symptoms of hemorrhagic fever also include fever and coughing, similar to COVID-19, which could put pressure on early diagnosis or testing.

Hemorrhagic fever usually refers to Ebola and similar illnesses, but China is reporting that disease may have respiratory effects as well.

The report has received little coverage in the US, but Dr. Malone is concerned that travel for the Olympics could be spread the new virus.

Is this another COVID variant? Is this an Ebola-like virus? Or it is some lab-produced hybrid?

Here is a recent report that point toward rodents as the source of the fever:

Since the beginning of winter, Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province has recorded a series of hemorrhagic fever cases, a natural epidemic disease with a high fatality rate. Medical experts said that rodents are the main source of infection, and called on the public not to panic as vaccinations can effectively prevent and control the disease, while human-to-human transmission is basically impossible.

The Virginia Health Department agrees that rodents are a likely source of the fever, but it also mentions this possibilty:

Could viral hemorrhagic fevers be used for bioterrorism?

Yes. Many hemorrhagic fever viruses are considered possible bioterrorism agents because they are highly infectious, can be aerosolized (made airborne), and would cause serious illness in the target population.

You won’t know until it is too late just like with COVID-19.

Folks are still bumbling around about the lab. Looking in the rear view mirror rather than watching the road in front of them.

interesting info

typically such health ravaging germs dont lead to global scale issues because they are too severe. such viruses etc kill their hosts before they can spread

something as mild and low risk as corona family tho is what circles the globe. but enough about the common cold

Their last bio-weapon was spread via an international games meet. It has worked wonderfully for the CCP. If crimes aren’t punished, the criminals will be emboldened to repeat their crimes. This is true both nationally and internationally.

If the hemorrhagic fever is really spread by rodents and is not contagious between humans, then there should be little risk of people bringing it back to the US.

On the other hand, given China’s secrecy it may be impossible to confirm that is really the case.

How do humans get HFRS?
Hantaviruses are carried and transmitted by rodents. People can become infected with these viruses and develop HFRS after exposure to aerosolized urine, droppings, or saliva of infected rodents or after exposure to dust from their nests. Transmission may also occur when infected urine or these other materials are directly introduced into broken skin or onto the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, or mouth. In addition, individuals who work with live rodents can be exposed to hantaviruses through rodent bites from infected animals. Transmission from one human to another may occur, but is extremely rare.

Meh… I’ve seen this episode a hundred times. Its yesterdays news…

“Col. Potter holds a surgical staff meeting in the Mess Tent, giving doctors the latest news on Korean Hemorrhagic Fever, which some soldiers in Post Op are suffering from.”

Chinese Covid vaccine.

Local authorities have noted the disease appears seasonally, typically from October to January, and from April to June.

Paranoia much?

If you can’t trust the government in China, who can you trust?

They have said there is no human-to-human transmission. What could go wrong?

Oh swell another possible global pandemic gift from the Communist Chinese Party! Who will Biden, the Dems, and Progs blame this time, Republicans, the unvaxed or the unmasked? Oh wait they’ll blame Trump!

If Dems hadn’t stolen the 2020 election President Trump would have boycotted the Olympics and put another travel ban on China protecting the American people.

So your answer is yes- you’re paranoid.

Thanks for playing.

When asked by “Sunday Morning Futures” anchor Maria Bartiromo if he would imposed a diplomatic boycott the 2022 Beijing Olympics like the Biden administration did, Trump said, “No, because I watched Jimmy Carter do it, and it was terrible. It was terrible. It hurts the athletes.”

“There are much more powerful things we can do than that, much, much more powerful things. That’s not a powerful thing. It almost makes us look like, I don’t know, sore losers,” he added.

Trust but verify should be the rule.

The Communist government has a track record of downplaying dangerous viruses for political reasons. They did that with SARS and they did it with COVID.

We should assume the worst if China refuses to allow foreign review of the hemorrhagic fever cases.

HFRS - Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome isn’t a “new” disease.

Neither are coronaviruses.

Do we have any independent evidence that the virus in China is a known strain?

Do you have any evidence that these cases aren’t the same disease that’s been affecting that region of China for more than a thousand years?

How long have bat coronaviruses been in China?

We have SARS and COVID coming out of China since 2002. Both are derived from bat coronaviruses, and one has become a world-wide pandemic that has killed millions.

If another dangerous virus originated in China, what is the probability that the government would promptly admit it?

It’s adorable that you guys still think this works.

Phrasing your ridiculous theories as questions doesn’t make them any less ridiculous - but it is much less honest.
