What are the chances the Repulicans win the House and shortly afterwards lose it?

I know the final House numbers have not been set so we’ll have to wait, nonetheless it will be a narrow majority, but it looks like Trump is picking a number of House members for his Administration. If they all eventually accept, get confirmed, etc., what happens to those seats?

Interesting.

We don’t know the numbers yet and it looks like already three of those seats will be in limbo?

Let’s say GOP ends up with 218 seats and DEMs end up with 217 seats.

GOP gives up 3 seats. House then has 432 seats (3 being empty). GOP loses 3 seats, keeping 215 seats. DEMS keep their 217 seats and gain the majority.

I think GOP will end up with 222 seats leaving 213 DEM seats. In that scenario, GOP loses 3 seats leaving them with 219 seats, allowing them to keep the majority.

They’ll have to wait till special elections to get filled again. I’d think they would not appoint anyone that isn’t from a safe Republican district. And obviously, they can’t afford to appoint very many.

a republican replacement will be elected in a special election. None of the seats are even close to being competitive

What about the NY seat?

it’s a rural district. upstate NY. Pretty conservative.

Adirondack area is 2/3 republicans.

I bet there’s going to be a recount before the House is in session.

But there will be a period of time where the seats sit empty. Depending on how close the balance, it could temporarily tilt toward the DEMs.

The thing is that we don’t know the final head count yet and I’m no proponent of vacating seats in Congress.

stefaniks is a safe republican district

GOP is looking to win 222 seats 3 make it 219. dems will have 213. no worries

My thought exactly.

About when would all these special elections be held?

few months usually

Knowing how the Left is capable of rolling in ‘Late’, uncounted, ‘Newly discovered’ votes… I wouldn’t trust them not to try it again.
Especially in CA.

Is the 222 official now?

no, still have a couple races out. Steele and Duarte in CA and Begich in AK
