WAR in Ukraine, Putin approves initiation of special military operation (Part 1)

Its literally the jewel in the crown.

Geography does not make your statement not ■■■■■■■■■

Russia is definitely more pissed Finland is joining than Sweden.

I was one of those who actually believed that Putin’s concerns about NATO enlargement was reasonable. And that inviting Finland, a country whose borders are just a few hundred miles from Russia’s second largest city, seemed provocative.

Today, after seeing how the Russian troops have acted in Ukraine and that Russia would stoop to such levels to try and make some weird point has changed my view.

The Cold War is back on. I don’t want a war between NATO and Russia, but as long as Putin and his cronies are in control of that kleptocratic state then I support strengthening NATO, including inviting new members into the alliance.

how reasonable was it considering nato rules do not allow a country in an existing territorial dispute to be admitted. and russia had complete control over that in relation to ukraine?

I really don’t care if they join or not it’s irrelevant to me but and awesome deal for them. Finland nor Sweden isn’t going to be attacked by Russia. Russia has been a shadow of its former empire the Soviet Union they are a paper tiger. Finland probably could beat them without NATO in a conventional war.

These countries want US protection so they can lavish their populace with social goodies (That our left want) and not spend as much on their military since they will have the US taxpayers to thank. This is straight up neocon 80-90’s Republican Party talking points.

Not really, Ukraine provides better strategic access to the Russian interior. From it you can strike due East, North East, or South East. Full access by multiple land routes from Western Europe. And there are no major obstacles between Moscow and the Ukrainian border.

Is it though, lib?

Hell. Yes. Welcome aboard.

Cold war? Lol

Meh. This one’s pretty hot right now. But the sentiment is great.

Plus, you get to actually be more scared this time. That’s a win win.

Don’t believe those are real questions. I mean, Italy is in NATO.

And France, sort of…

Ukraine is doorway to Russia underbelly.

It’s their Fulda Gap.

Or, as Ukraine would see it, an independent country with a right to its own existence.

Vastly superior military, has been “neutral” forever, 800 mile border and will help control the Baltic Sea.

The Baltic Sea is a small box. An 800 mile border, with a good chunk above the Arctic Circle. And since we all know Russia is never going to launch a conventional attack against NATO just what strategic value does it have, unless we would be planning a conventional attack against Russia. In which case just what do you think any Russian leader would do?
