US transferring nuke tech to middle east

I’ve already made my position clear.

I’m engaging in discussion. I’m not obsessing about anything.

When it comes to any political ideology, there are ideologues and pragmatists. I’m a pragmatist.

Position is has no problem with transfer of nuke tech because of a lack of imagination with how that might pose a future problem unless it’s Iran.

The Iranian leadership isn’t suicidal. They’ve never been suicidal.

The US response would be overwhelming. A full barrage from one Ohio class submarine would make most of Iran uninhabitable for decades. A single Trident D5 carries 8 to 12 175-300 kt warheads. Each sub carries anywhere from 16 to 24 missiles on board.

Hiroshima was 15 kt. Nagasaki 19 kt. We’ve all seen the pictures of what they looked like afterwards.

Now imagine an Iranian city like Tehran receiving two airbursts from a Trident D5. Let’s use the small scale, 175kt.

Every living thing within 3 to 5 miles of each blast would be vaporized instantly, leaving just shadows. From 10 to 15 miles any unprotected person would immediately receive third degree burns all over their bodies; in many cases the clothes would literally melt into the skin. Anyone looking at the blast when it occurred would have their retinas seared. The blast effects would collapse buildings, rupture septic and water lines, and crush the internal organs of people caught in its wake. Immediate radiation effects would give even people who managed to survive the chaos a lethal does that would kill them in less than two weeks.

They aren’t stupid.

Let’s hope not.

And yet you criticize democratic policy that has no chance of passing while being unable to criticize Donald Trump wasting money.

I’m expressing my opinions. When I disagree with a policy based on ideology I weigh in. In regards to an ideology I agree with, I fully recognize that one doesn’t get everything they want.

In regards to Trump’s fiscal policy, I agree in principal while recognizing there will be things that fiscal ideologues will vehemently disagree with. As a pragmatist, I fully expect that to be the case.

When it comes to Trump, there are those that will criticize Trump no matter what he does. That’s just the way it is.

Do you think Donald Trump and family are wasting taxpayer money on the limos in Europe?

Because it’s factual and you have not disproved otherwise

The treaty was not a farce but an honest to goodness treaty that worked well for both sides.
But its was Obama’s so it had to go. now the Iranian people are suffering once again.

Allan

No it was a bad agreement. Without Senate ratification it isn’t really a treaty.

A bad agreement that led to Iran acting like a normal nation and not a single nuclear boom being developed during that period. Yup so bad

They used the freed up money to fund terrorism. How is that a good thing? And given some sites were off limits and there could be no surprise inspections, how could we possibly know what they were up to?

No nuke developed. And there were other inspection plus it open the door for more stronger deals.

Let’s look at our buddies the Saudi who are litteraly funding wahabist terrorist worldwide and bombing hospitals, weddings and children in Yemen…

Who’s giving em the money and bombs?

So in your expert opinion, Iran is the good guy and Saudi Arabia is the bad guy? Got it! :+1:

They may already have em…from Pakistan.

Now where did I ever say that? Or that I am expert?I’m just stating facts

You consider anyone who criticizes trump to have TDS.

You certainly implied as much. You made it clear that the one you was concerned about wasn’t Iran, but Saudi Arabia.
