The New York Times was forced to correct a previous article regarding UN ambassador Nikki Haley Friday afternoon, saying the piece gave an “unfair impression” of the senior Trump official.
The initial article, titled “Nikki Haley’s View of New York Is Priceless. Her Curtains? $52,701” came under fire after the author acknowledged the window dressings were purchased in 2016 under President Obama’s administration.
The Times issued a forceful correction hours later, changing the title to “State Department Spent $52,701 on Curtains for Residence of U.N. Envoy.”
“An earlier version of this article and headline created an unfair impression about who was responsible for the purchase in question. While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision on leasing the ambassador’s residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials. The article should not have focused on Ms. Haley, nor should a picture of her have been used. The article and headline have now been edited to reflect those concerns, and the picture has been removed,” writes the Times.
So is the original story the “Fake News” or is the correction the “Fake News”?
Gee.
Isn’t it amazing how a media entity, a legitimate real news entity, corrects the record if they get it wrong and their mistake is brought to their attention?
Unlike the scumbag president we currently have that tweets out or blurts out any old lie or inaccurate piece of garbage and never ever retracts what he has lied about or fudged the facts about.
Issuing a retraction is an admission of being inaccurate in the past. That is a weakness. It’s far better to double down on your untruth. Those who are inclined to believe you will continue to defend you because you are never wrong, just always unjustly attacked by those with TDS.
