No, seriously. The Post Office is one of the few things that is explicitly called for in the Constitution. It’s a huge boon to industry and commerce and, even with the internet, an indispensable “public good”.
I just don’t understand the whole “it should be profitable”. Nothing else called for in the Constitution is expected to “make money”. Nobody says the Census or the military has to make money.
I chose the wrong word when I said “profitable”. I meant to say “break even”. The government shouldn’t be in this to make a profit but they should be able to break even IMO.
In my opinion Trump should consider all expenses when deciding whether or not to do or not to do something that is primarily for personal reasons. Going to Mara Largo every weekend is financially wrong for the country.
That’s what I don’t understand, they obvious were above board with their shipping cost contracts with the USPS. I’m with you, why is Trump making comments like these, and why single out Amazon.com?
If he is just doing this for some kind of personal disagreements with Bezos, it would certainly be beneath the office of the President of the US to engage in.
