In the 1920s and early 30s this nation did the same thing Trump is doing now:
- Protectionism, crackdown on foreign imports
- Crackdown on immigration
- High budget deficits (beginning '31-'32)
The long-term outcome from this was the worst Depression ever in history.
Though the 1930s recession was triggered initially by the overspeculation and Wall Street crash, like most earlier recessions and stock market crashes, the one of '29 then led to the worst Depression ever, so there were other factors which added to the crash to turn the 30s recession into something much worse.
Why are idiot Republicans ignoring history and choosing instant gratification instead of the long-term good?
