Trumps anti-abundance plan

On the topic of Trump, they are very much LW.

Topic by topic.

Are there any topics that are not LW or RW in your world? What category would you put “water is wet?” LW or RW?

I would say more to the right.

If it was the LW saying it they would say that water is whatever it identifies as.

Politics only.

If we are discussing political ramifications or ideology within the context of this forum, it is a fair bet there is either a LW or RW bias.

But obviously there are exceptions. In another thread we are discussing fixing our own cars, driving a manual transmission, etc… Nothing political about that.

In regard to Trump, those on the right support him. Those on the left despise him. If I support Trump, I lean right on that specific topic. If I despise him, I lean left on that specific topic.

Where did you learn these things about me? I have never claimed any of these things you seem to attribute to me.

The United States has not been “punched in the nose”. I don’t even know what that would mean. We’ve been on the winning end of free trade for decades, growing at a more rapid pace than just about any developed country in the world and creating more jobs and higher incomes than any of them. If that’s getting punched in the face we should get punched more often. We have created a world dominated by the US dollar and focused our efforts on high-value production to the benefit of everyone.

I swear the way Trump supporters describe the current US economy you’d think we were living in thatched huts, eating plain rice without access to clean water or electricity. Instead we’re the largest economy on the planet, and the most successful.

There was no trade deal announced with the EU yesterday. In the end there will be one - and it will be virtually identical to our current trade agreement. And Trump will claim credit a you will say he’s making America great.

Since when did any politician let alone President start building hotels in Qatar and launch a bit coin scam or sell Maga merch and dinner with the president.
You are ok with it because you elected a convicted criminal and want to smear those who haven’t.

You continue to ignore the current economic reality. I’ve posted it several times and you either ignore it or deny it. Here it is again:

Today, meaning in May of 2025, 2/3 of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Do you understand the implications of this? They have no savings account, no stock portfolio, no cache of precious metals, etc. They are one paycheck from economic disaster and many are still having to us exorbitant interest rates credit cards to make ends between paydays. This is not right wing talking points, this is a fact. For all you can say about higher wages and standard of living or anything else, not one word matters a bit or makes a bit of difference to these people. It also doesn’t matter how we compare to other nations.

We are 37 trillion dollars in debt, and you guys can’t understand, in your Lib snobbery, why 66% of Americans wouldn’t give so much as one penny if that one penny would fund every DEI program in the world or pay for every desired sex change operation in the world for eternity. We have hundreds of billions of dollars in trade deficits and you can’t understand why 66% of Americans support what Elon Musk and DOGE are doing. 66% of Americans wake up everyday worried about keeping a roof over their families head and feeding them, and you can’t understand why people are so pissed about free ■■■■ for illegals. Instead, you spout stupid ■■■■ that 66% of Americans don’t care about and has zero effect on their day to day lives.

No, this current mess is not the sole responsibility of Democrats, but it is near 100% the fault of Democrats who are fighting to maintain the status quo which clearly is not, and has not been working for most Americans. This is why you guys lost so badly in November. Desperate people, who feel ignored and marginalized by their elected officials demand change, and radical change at that. Trump is instituting such radical change. He’s doing EXACTLY what he said he was going to do during his campaign, keeping more promises to voters than any President in my lifetime. It doesn’t matter what he does or doesn’t do, TDS will keep you guys fighting against him without thought or concern for whether it’s good for Americans or not. But by all means, keep up what you’re doing and continue to lose elections for years to come…

I’d rather have a President that shares the wealth with tax cuts and lower prices than a President who takes more in taxes and causes prices to rise and operates a criminal operation from the White House like Biden, who only enriched himself and his family.

Yes, let’s just ignore the fact that we live in the most successful economy in the world and we’re doing better than just about any developed country in the world. Instead, let’s focus on individual spending decisions.

Where do you learn these things about me? Are you incapable of a conversation that doesn’t involve attempting to dismiss and demean the other person?

Correction: We send hundreds of billions of dollars overseas in exchange for goods and services. That capital account surplus buys… what? Oh right, things denominated in dollars. US good, US services, US financial instruments and oil.

Remind me what the problem is here.

That’s not what America was looking for. He got soundly defeated by Reagan.

Don’t forget twice impeached.

You say “instead let’s focus on individual spending decisions” and then call me out for demeaning you? Do you not realize how demeaning and dismissive that statement is? 66% of Americans are hurting badly and for every one of them, it’s nothing but poor spending decisions huh? Your elitist snobbery is on full display here. Please continue your Americans are too stupid to run their finances narrative in 26 and 28. Add this to the Americans are racist and sexist and enjoy white privilege narratives and you guys should do REALLY WELL!:rofl::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

What part of deficit do you not understand? It is not a word that people want to hear when discussing their financial situation. Most people understand it’s a bad thing, especially when it is persistent. If the choice is deficit or surplus, which would you prefer? If a deficit can be eliminated by making a new deal, why would we not make a new deal?

What is the problem with FAIR trade deals instead of US getting taken advantage of all the time by virtually everyone?

The party of personal responsibility goes packing.

Are you talking about the fiscal deficit or the trade deficit? I’d prefer a trade deficit that helps maintain dollar dominance around the world and pushes money back to the US in the form of consumption and investment in dollar-denominated assets.

Tell me about a trade deal where the US is “getting taken advantage of”. Just pick one and explain how that specific deal is one we agreed to even though it is “taking advantage of” us.

And let’s hope this poster is against the Trump budget adding 4.5 trillion to the deficit to spend on tax cuts but I’m guessing not.

I agree. Many people do end up in financial difficulty due to irresponsibility, but during the last 4 years, under Biden policies, many were brought to the brink of ruin directly due to the policies of Joe Biden and his administration. Inflation driven to historic highs, food prices up over 40%. Some over 100%. Gas prices doubled. Interest rates doubled and tripled. House prices skyrocketed, rents skyrocketed. You guys love the word systemic. Systemic corruption, systemic racism. Many Americans were brought to ruin due to the systemic stupidity and systemic incompetence of Biden and his idiot cronies.

You want an example of unfair trade? How many American cars are sold in Europe or Japan compared to how many European and Japanese cars are sold here? What is the tarrifs and VAT tax on American cars in Europe? Are America cars comparably and fairly priced compared to how European cars and Japanese cars are taxed and priced here? The answer is no. Does that sound fair to you? Equal access to markets and fair prices for consumers to make a choice. That’s a good deal…

The tariff is 10%.

The VAT is isn’t paid on foreign inputs so Europeans come out ahead relative to strictly European cars.

We sell about 300,000 cars there ever year. Of course it’s a challenge becuase they have different emissions and safety standards - and I’ve advocated for decades that we should wr with EU partner to harmonize those so cars sold in the US met the same standards as Europe (and Japanese and Korean ones). This could lower the pride of vehicles by 10 or 20%.

nope i will disagree. read the website, they talk glowingly about scalia, they talk about originalism and its merits, aka right wingers.

being anti trump and his agenda is NOT left wing.

sorry it isnt. mike pence, liz cheney, brian kemp did not all of a sudden become left wingers because they dispise the POTUS.

Allan

Not left wingers. LW on that specific topic.

Take me. I’m not a left winger by any stretch of the imagination. But on the topic of election fraud and the events of 2020/J6, I am very much LW. That simply means my position on that particular topic aligns more closely with LIBs.

Fabulous Post!
