US presidents are all authoritarian. Trump is no exception.
So did Biden, Hillary, Obama, Bush I & II, Clinton, Gore, Reagan, Carter…
Kind of goes with the territory.
You might be mistaking folks on the Right with Conservatives. They haven’t been Conservative in a long time, for the most part. Trump is a symptom, not the disease.

Not really. I suppose it is fun to call oneself Conservative, but it is still true that the Right is anything but. Conservatives respect the rule of law, due process, checks and balances, free trade and Capitalism. They want limited government and individual liberty/privacy.
The Right, for the most part, wants none of this at the moment.
