Thing is, Obama didn’t say that. In fact he said nothing like that.
Trump appears to be paraphrasing remarks Obama made during a PBS town hall in June 2016. Obama referenced Trump’s promise to bring back manufacturing jobs, and said, “Well, how exactly are you going to do that? What exactly are you going to do? There’s no answer to it.”
He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that?” Obama continued. “What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.”
At no point during Obama’s remarks did he say anything about GDP. In short, Trump fabricated a quote to make himself look good.
Trump could say he has increased GDP by 50% and we have zero unemployment and you would still somehow find a way to parse his words to tell yourself that he is not lying.
You do know that Obama had 4% and even 5% growth quarters right? They’re certainly possible. What many people don’t think will happen is sustained 3-4% GDP growth. And we actually lost manufacturing jobs last month. FYI.
"He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.”
Obama started the “magic wand” narrative so ether suck it up or shut up because any paraphrasing or comment that responds on that narrative is valid. IMO
If I responded to the wrong person blame it on this message board format.
