Trump looking to buy Greenland?

7 cents an acre … same as Alaska … or rather about $2.50/acre adjusted for inflation. That would be about $335 million. Let’s be generous … round it up to $350 million.

Seriously, when you consider that 81% of that island is buried under the ice cap (only about 5% of Alaska is glaciated,) doesn’t that sound fair?

I was only half joking. Everything about that place is a paradise to me. I will go there. For how long is the question.

Agreed.

Post photos when you do.

Looks pretty badass.

My retirement plan is to sail towards the equator and never come back, but if Trump scores Greenland, I’ll have to sail there at least once.

Otherwise, to hell with winter ever again. I hope all that ice ■■■■■■■ melts!

I’ve always said I would miss winter if I moved south. But this time of year, from northern Wisconsin, I agree with you.

I’m a strange person. You can keep your palm trees and warm green/blue water. I love the cold, ice, snow, and darkness. On my days off during the winter I often go out into my backyard at midnight and sit around the firepit wearing only a tee shirt. The colder the better.

Why aren’t you living in Alaska?

I used to feel the same way. I’ve lived very far up north in the past and everything. But for some reason, the older I get, the colder I feel.

I’ve thought of that, trust me. It has to do with my job. When I retire I will relocate to a cold place. I absolutely hate bugs. I abhor bugs. Bugs of any type.

@Samm can explain bird mosquito season.

Well, that rules out Alaska. We have more biomass of mosquitoes than all other animals combined. :grinning:

I think Antarctica is the only place without insects …

There are bugs everywhere. But usually the colder the climate, the less bugs. It’s one of the things I like most about winter.

Not just in the sky either. They were also tumbleweeds.

This is real road sign near Denali Park in Alaska

Those are some big bugs.

How’s Portlock Alaska doing? I heard they had issues there. Has that town ever grown again?

Well, you could always become a snow bird, but rather than fly away from winter, fly to it.

Don’t go to the interior of Alaska in June or early summer unless you are willing to face swarms of bugs. We visited Denali at the end of August and had no problems.

I doubt Greenland has the same issues since the climate is cold year-round.

I was stationed at Thule Greenland for a year back in 1974. I don’t recall any bugs.
